Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would see the new moon, he would say: "Allahu Akbar, Allahumma ahillahu 'alayna ....... etc." Meaning: "O Allah, cause this moon to rise upon us with security, peace, Islam, and guidance. O moon, our Lord and your Lord is Allah, the Exalted."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ جب پہلی رات کا چاند دیکھتے تو فرماتے: ” «اَللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ اَللّٰهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا ....... الخ» یعنی اے اللہ یہ چاند ہم پر امن و امان اور سلامتی و اسلام اور توفیق کے ساتھ طلوع کرنا، اے چاند ہمارا رب اور تیرا رب اللہ تعالیٰ ہی ہے۔“
Sada Ibne Umar RA ne kaha: Rasool Allah SAW jab pehli raat ka chand dekhte to farmate: “Allahu Akbar Allahuma ahillahu alaina ....... Alkh” yani aye Allah ye chand hum par aman o aman aur salamti o Islam aur taufeeq ke sath tulu karna, aye chand hamara Rab aur tera Rab Allah Ta’ala hi hai.
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَعَمِّهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهِ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ، قَالَ: "اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا يُحِبُّ رَبُّنَا وَيَرْضَى، رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ".
