Chapter on a mouse falling into clarified butter (ghee) and dying

باب في الفأرة تقع في السمن فماتت

Sunan al-Darimi 2120

It is narrated on the authority of Ummul Mu'mineen, Sayyidah Maimunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about a mouse that had fallen into ghee. He said: "Remove it and discard the ghee surrounding it, and (the rest of the ghee) is permissible to eat."

ام المومنین سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ سے چوہیا کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا جو گھی میں گر گئی ہو، فرمایا: ”اس کو نکال دو اور اس کے آس پاس کے گھی کو نکال پھینکو اور (باقی بچا گھی) کھا لو۔“

Am ul momineen Syeda Maimoona raziallahu anha se marvi hai keh Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se chuhe ke bare mein poocha gaya jo ghee mein gir gayi ho, farmaya: "Iss ko nikal do aur iss ke aas paas ke ghee ko nikal phenko aur (baqi bacha ghee) kha lo."

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ فَأْرَةٍ وَقَعَتْ فِي السَمْنٍ فَقَالَ: "أَلْقُوهَا وَمَا حَوْلَهَا، وَكُلُوا".

Sunan al-Darimi 2121

Muhammad bin Yusuf narrates from Ibn 'Uyainah with the same chain of narration.


Grade: Sahih

محمد بن يوسف، ابن عینیہ سے اسی سند سے بیان کرتے ہیں۔

Muhammad bin Yusuf, Ibn Aini se isi sanad se bayan karte hain.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ.

Sunan al-Darimi 2122

Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked: "A mouse fell into ghee and died (what should be done)?", He said: "Remove it and the ghee around it and throw it away."


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ سے پوچھا گیا: چوہیا گھی میں گر کر مر جائے (تو کیا کیا جائے؟)، فرمایا: ”اس کو اور آس پاس کے گھی کو نکال پھینکو۔“

Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne kaha: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha gaya: chuhiya ghee mein gir kar mar jaye (to kya kya jaye?), farmaya: ”Is ko aur aas paas ke ghee ko nikal phenko”.

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ فَأْرَةٍ وَقَعَتْ فِي سَمْنٍ فَمَاتَتْ، فَقَالَ: "خُذُوهَا وَمَا حَوْلَهَا فَاطْرَحُوهُ".

Sunan al-Darimi 2123

This narration is also transmitted on the authority of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) as before. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If the ghee is melted, then all of it should be discarded.


Grade: Sahih

اس سند سے بھی سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مثل سابق مروی ہے۔ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: اگر گھی پگھلا ہوا ہو تو سب پھینک دیا جائے۔

is sanad se bhi sayyidah maimunah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se misl sabiq marwi hai imam darmi rahimahu allahu ne farmaya agar ghi pighla hua ho to sab phenk diya jaye

حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَحْوَهُ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد: إِذَا كَانَ ذَائِبًا أُهَرِيقَ.
