Sunan al-Darimi 2475
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The best companion (for a journey) is four, and the best army is one that has four thousand men, and the best Sariya (military detachment) is one that has four hundred men, and (an army of) twelve thousand will not be defeated because of their small number, if they are patient and truthful.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”بہترین ساتھی چار ہوتے ہیں، اور بہتر لشکر وہ ہے جس میں چار ہزار آدمی ہوں، اور بہتر سریہ (فوجی دستہ) وہ ہے جس میں چار سو آدمی ہوں، اور بارہ ہزار تعداد ہو جائے اور وہ صبر و سچائی سے کام لیں تو قلت کی وجہ سے مغلوب نہ ہوں گے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne kaha: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Behtarin sathi chaar hote hain, aur behtar lashkar wo hai jis mein chaar hazaar aadmi hon, aur behtar sariya (fauji dasta) wo hai jis mein chaar sau aadmi hon, aur barah hazaar tadaad ho jaye aur wo sabar o sachai se kaam lein to qillat ki wajah se magloob na hon ge."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، وَعُقَيْلٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ أَرْبَعَةٌ، وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ، وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ، وَمَا بَلَغَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا فَصَبَرُوا، وَصَدَقُوا فَغُلِبُوا مِنْ قِلَّةٍ".
