Chapter: Drawing lots for loyalty.
باب: جر الولاء
Sunan al-Darimi 3201
It is narrated on the authority of Mughira that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "A mukatab (slave who has contracted for his freedom) died, having paid half of his ransom. He left behind a wife and a son by her who was free. They said, 'We think he (the slave) may bequeath the wala' (right of inheritance) of his son.'"

مغیرہ سے مروی ہے ابراہیم رحمہ اللہ نے کہا: ایک غلام مکاتب فوت ہو گیا، جس نے آدھی قسط ادا کر دی تھی اور آزاد بیوی سے اس کا ایک لڑکا موجود تھا، انہوں نے کہا: میرا خیال ہے وہ اپنے بیٹے کا ولاء کھینچ لے گا۔
Mughira se marvi hai Ibrahim rehmatullah alaih ne kaha: Ek ghulam mukatab فوت ho gaya, jis ne aadhi qist ada kar di thi aur azad biwi se us ka ek ladka maujood tha, unhon ne kaha: Mera khayal hai woh apne bete ka wilayat khench le ga.
(حديث مقطوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ:"فِي مُكَاتَبٍ مَاتَ وَقَدْ أَدَّى نِصْفَ مُكَاتَبَتِهِ، وَلَهُ وَلَدٌ مِنْ امْرَأَةٍ حُرَةٍ، قَالَ: مَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا قَدْ جَرَّ وَلَاءَ وَلَدِهِ".
