Sunan al-Darimi 341
Sufyan ibn `Uyaynah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "The biggest ignorant among the people is the one who abandons knowledge despite having it (i.e., neither acts upon it nor conveys it), and the biggest scholar is the one who acts according to his knowledge, and the best of people is the one who has the most fear of Allah Almighty."
سفیان بن عیینہ رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: لوگوں میں سب سے بڑا جاہل وہ ہے جو علم ہوتے ہوئے اسے چھوڑ دے (یعنی نہ عمل کرے نہ تبلیغ) اور سب سے بڑا عالم وہ ہے جو علم کے مطابق عمل کرے، اور لوگوں میں سب سے زیادہ اچھا وہ ہے جو الله عزوجل سے سب سے زیادہ خشیت والا ہو۔
Sufyan bin Uyainah rehmatullahi alaih ne farmaya: Logon mein sab se bada jahil wo hai jo ilm hote huye usay chhor de (yani na amal kare na tabligh) aur sab se bada alim wo hai jo ilm ke mutabiq amal kare, aur logon mein sab se zyada achha wo hai jo Allah Azzawajal se sab se zyada khashyat wala ho.
(حديث مقطوع) قَالَ: وأَخْبَرَنِي أحمد بن مُحَمَّدٌ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ: "أَجْهَلُ النَّاسِ مَنْ تَرَكَ مَا يَعْلَمُ، وَأَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِمَا يَعْلَمُ، وَأَفْضَلُ النَّاسِ أَخْشَعَهُمْ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ".
