Sunan al-Darimi 343
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Two greedy people never have enough, one is a scholar and the other is a seeker of the world, and the two can never be equal. The scholar increases in the pleasure of Allah, and the seeker of the world remains in rebellion and transgression, floundering about." Then Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, recited this verse: "Indeed, man transgresses, because he sees himself as self-sufficient." (Al-'Alaq, 96:6-7) "Truly, man goes beyond bounds, because he considers himself to be free of need (or rich)." Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Someone else said: "It is only those of His servants who have knowledge that fear Allah…" (Fatir, 35:28)
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: دو حریص آدمی کبھی اکتاتے نہیں، ایک صاحب علم، دوسرا طالب دنیا اور دونوں برابر نہیں ہو سکتے، صاحب علم اللہ کی خوشنودی میں اضافہ کرتا ہے اور صاحب دنیا سرکشی و طغیانی میں پڑا ٹامک ٹوئیاں مارتا رہتا ہے۔ پھر سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ آیت پڑھی: «﴿كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَى ٭ أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى﴾» [العلق: 6/96، 7] سچ مچ انسان تو آپے سے باہر ہو جاتا ہے، وہ اس لئے کہ وہ اپنے آپ کو بےپروا (یا تونگر) سمجھتا ہے۔ سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کسی اور نے کہا: «﴿إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ ...﴾» [فاطر: 28/35] ”بیشک الله تعالیٰ سے اس کے عالم بندے ہی ڈرتے ہیں۔“
Sayyidna Abdullah bin Masood Raziallahu Anhu ne farmaya: Do haris aadmi kabhi uktate nahin, ek sahib ilm, doosra talib duniya aur donon barabar nahin ho sakte, sahib ilm Allah ki khushnoodi mein izafa karta hai aur sahib duniya sarkashi wa tughyani mein pada tamktoian marta rehta hai. Phir Sayyidna Abdullah bin Masood Raziallahu Anhu ne yeh ayat padhi: "Kalla inna insan layaṭgha * an ra'ahu istaghna" [Al-Alaq: 6/96, 7] Sach much insan to aap se bahar ho jata hai, woh is liye ki woh apne aap ko beparwah (ya tongar) samajhta hai. Sayyidna Ibn Masood Raziallahu Anhu ne kaha: kisi aur ne kaha: "Innama yakhsha Allaha min ibadihil ulamaa ..." [Fatir: 28/35] "Bashk Allah Ta'ala se uske alim bande hi darte hain."
(حديث موقوف) أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عُمَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: "مَنْهُومَانِ لَا يَشْبَعَانِ: صَاحِبُ الْعِلْمِ، وَصَاحِبُ الدُّنْيَا، وَلَا يَسْتَوِيَانِ، أَمَّا صَاحِبُ الْعِلْمِ، فَيَزْدَادُ رِضًى لِلرَّحْمَنِ، وَأَمَّا صَاحِبُ الدُّنْيَا، فَيَتَمَادَى فِي الطُّغْيَانِ"، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: كَلَّا إِنَّ الإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَى {6} أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى {7} سورة العلق آية 6-7، قَالَ: وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ سورة فاطر آية 28.
