Sahih Ibn Hibban 3463
Adi bin Hatim said: When the verse "until the white thread of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread" was revealed, I took a white rope and a black rope and put them under my pillow. I looked at them, but I could not distinguish between them. I mentioned that to the Prophet (ﷺ), and he laughed and said, “Your pillow must be wide and long! Rather, it (the white thread) is the daylight.”
حضرت عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: "حتیٰ یتبین لکم الخیط الابیض من الخیط الاسود من الفجر" تو میں نے ایک سفید اور ایک سیاہ ڈوری لی اور اسے اپنے تکیے کے نیچے رکھ لیا، میں انہیں دیکھتا رہا لیکن ان میں فرق نہ کر سکا، میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کا ذکر کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہنس پڑے اور فرمایا: ”تمہارا تکیہ یقیناً چوڑا اور لمبا ہو گا! بلکہ اس (سفید دھاگے) سے مراد صبح کی سفیدی ہے“۔
Hazrat Adi bin Hatim Radi Allahu Anhu kehte hain ki jab yeh ayat nazil hui: "hatta yatabayyan lakumul khaitul abyadu minal khait il aswadi minal fajri" to main ne ek safaid aur ek siyah dori li aur usay apne takiya ke neeche rakh liya, main unhen dekhta raha lekin un mein farq na kar saka, main ne Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se is ka zikr kiya to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam hans pare aur farmaya: "tumhara takiya yaqinan chauda aur lamba ho ga! balkeh is (safaid dhage) se murad subah ki safedi hai".
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ} مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَخَذْتُ عِقَالًا أَبْيَضَ وَعِقَالًا أَسْوَدَ فَوَضَعْتُهَا تَحْتَ وِسَادَتِي فَنَظَرْتُ فَلَمْ أَتَبَيَّنْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ «إِنَّ وِسَادَكَ إِذًا لَعَرِيضٌ طَوِيلٌ إِنَّمَا هُوَ اللَّيْلُ»
