Sahih Ibn Hibban 6916
Abu Abdur-Rahman As-Sulami said: When Uthman was besieged and his house was surrounded, he addressed the people and said, "I ask you by Allah, do you know that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was startled at Hira', he said, 'Be firm, O Hira'! There is upon you a Prophet, a Siddiq (truthful one), or a martyr'?" They said, "Yes, by Allah." He said, "I ask you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the battle of 'Usrah, 'Whoever spends something acceptable...'" – and the people at that time were poor and struggling – "so I equipped a third of that army from my own wealth?" They said, "Yes, by Allah." Then he said, "I ask you by Allah, do you know that the well of Rumi used to be sold for eight (dirhams), so I bought it with my wealth and made it free for the rich, the poor, and the travelers?" They said, "Yes, by Allah," and he mentioned other things.
ابو عبدالرحمن السلمی کہتے ہیں: جب عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کا گھر گھیر لیا گیا اور انہیں محصور کر لیا گیا تو انہوں نے لوگوں سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا، "میں تم سے اللہ کے واسطے پوچھتا ہوں کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ جب رسول اللہ ﷺ حرا میں گھبرائے تھے تو آپ نے فرمایا تھا 'حرا مضبوط رہ! تیرے اوپر ایک نبی، ایک صدیق یا ایک شہید آئے گا'؟" لوگوں نے کہا، "ہاں، اللہ کی قسم"۔ پھر انہوں نے کہا "میں تم سے اللہ کے واسطے پوچھتا ہوں کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے غزوہ عسرہ کے موقع پر فرمایا تھا کہ 'جو شخص اللہ کی رضا کے لیے خرچ کرے گا...' - اور اس وقت لوگ غریب اور تنگدست تھے - "تو میں نے اپنی ذات سے اس لشکر کا تیسرا حصہ تیار کیا"۔ لوگوں نے کہا، "ہاں، اللہ کی قسم"۔ پھر انہوں نے کہا "میں تم سے اللہ کے واسطے پوچھتا ہوں کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ رومہ کا کنواں آٹھ (درہم) میں بکتا تھا تو میں نے اسے اپنے مال سے خرید کر امیر، غریب اور مسافروں کے لیے مفت کردیا"۔ لوگوں نے کہا، "ہاں، اللہ کی قسم"۔ اور انہوں نے کچھ اور باتیں بھی ذکر فرمائیں۔
Abu Abdurrahman as-Salmi kahte hain: Jab Usman radi Allahu anhu ka ghar gher liya gaya aur unhen mahsoor kar liya gaya to unhon ne logon se khitab karte huye kaha, "Main tum se Allah ke waste poochhta hoon kya tum jante ho ke jab Rasul Allah ﷺ Hira mein ghabraye the to aap ne farmaya tha 'Hira mazboot rah! Tere upar ek nabi, ek siddiq ya ek shaheed aye ga'?" Logon ne kaha, "Haan, Allah ki qasam". Phir unhon ne kaha "Main tum se Allah ke waste poochhta hoon kya tum jante ho ke Rasul Allah ﷺ ne Ghazwah Usra ke mauqe par farmaya tha ke 'Jo shakhs Allah ki raza ke liye kharch kare ga...' - aur us waqt log ghareeb aur tangdast the - "to main ne apni zaat se us lashkar ka teesra hissa taiyar kiya". Logon ne kaha, "Haan, Allah ki qasam". Phir unhon ne kaha "Main tum se Allah ke waste poochhta hoon kya tum jante ho ke Roma ka kunwan aath (dirham) mein bikta tha to main ne use apne maal se khareed kar ameer, ghareeb aur musafiron ke liye muft kar diya". Logon ne kaha, "Haan, Allah ki qasam". Aur unhon ne kuchh aur baaten bhi zikr farmain.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ لَمَّا حُصِرَ عُثْمَانُ وَأُحِيطَ بِدَارِهِ أَشْرَفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ انْتَفَضَ بِنَا حِرَاءُ قَالَ «اثْبُتْ حِرَاءُ فَمَا عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ أَوْ صِدِّيقٌ أَوْ شَهِيدٌ» قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ الْعُسْرَةِ «مَنْ يُنْفِقْ نَفَقَةً مُتَقَبَّلَةً»؟ وَالنَّاسُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُعْسِرُونَ مُجْهَدُونَ فَجَهَّزْتُ ثُلُثَ ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشِ مِنْ مَالِي فَقَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رُومَةَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُشْرَبُ مِنْهَا إِلَّا بِثَمَنٍ فَابْتَعْتُهَا بِمَالِي فَجَعَلْتُهَا لِلْغَنِيِّ وَالْفَقِيرِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ؟ فَقَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ فِي أَشْيَاءَ عَدَّدَهَا
