Chapter: Eating from the vessels of the polytheists

باب الأَكْلِ فِي قُدُورِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

Sunan Ibn Majah 2830

Qabisah bin Hulb narrated that his father said that he had asked the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about the food of the Christians and he said, ‘do not have any doubt about food, (thereby) following the way of the Christians in that.’

ہلب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہعلیہ وسلم سے نصاریٰ کے کھانے کے متعلق سوال کیا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: کسی کھانے سے متعلق تمہارے دل میں وسوسہ نہ آنا چاہیئے، ورنہ یہ نصاریٰ کی مشابہت ہو جائے گی ۔

Halb (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke mein ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se Nasara ke khane ke mutalliq sawal kiya to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: kisi khane se mutalliq tumhare dil mein waswasa na aana chahiye, warna yeh Nasara ki mushabahat ho jayegi.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْقَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ طَعَامِ النَّصَارَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَخْتَلِجَنَّ فِي صَدْرِكَ طَعَامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ نَصْرَانِيَّةً .

Sunan Ibn Majah 2831

Urwah bin Ruwaim Al-Lakhmi narrated that Abu Tha’labah Al-Khushani, whom he met and spoke with, said that he had come to meet the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and asked him, ‘O Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Can we cook in the vessels of the idolaters?’ He said, ‘do not cook in them.’ I said, ‘what if we need them and cannot find anything else?’ He said, ‘wash them well, then cook and eat.’


Grade: Sahih

ابوثعلبہ خشنی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس حاضر ہوا تو میں نے سوال کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا ہم مشرکین کی ہانڈیوں میں کھانا پکا سکتے ہیں؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ان میں نہ پکاؤ میں نے کہا: اگر اس کی ضرورت پیش آ جائے اور ہمارے لیے کوئی چارہ کار ہی نہ ہو؟ تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تب تم انہیں اچھی طرح دھو لو، پھر پکاؤ اور کھاؤ ۔

Abuth'albah Khushni (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas hazir hua to main ne sawal kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Kya hum mushrikeen ki handiyon mein khana pakaa sakte hain? Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: In mein na pakao main ne kaha: Agar is ki zarurat pesh aa jaaye aur hamare liye koi chara kar hi na ho? To Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Tab tum unhein acchi tarah dho lo, phir pakao aur khaao

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو فَرْوَةَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ رُوَيْمٍ اللَّخْمِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَقِيَهُ وَكَلَّمَهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُدُورُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ نَطْبُخُ فِيهَا؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَطْبُخُوا فِيهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنِ احْتَجْنَا إِلَيْهَا فَلَمْ نَجِدْ مِنْهَا بُدًّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَارْحَضُوهَا رَحْضًا حَسَنًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ اطْبُخُوا وَكُلُوا .
