Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that when the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) died, there was a man in Al-Madinah who used to make a niche in the grave and another who used to dig graves without a niche. They said, ‘Let us pray Istikharah to our Lord and call for them both, and whichever of them comes first, we will let him do it.’ So, they were both sent for, and the one who used to make the niche-grave came first, so they made a niche-grave for the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).’

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب نبی اکرم ﷺ کا انتقال ہو گیا، تو مدینہ میں قبر بنانے والے دو شخص تھے، ایک بغلی قبر بناتا تھا، اور دوسرا صندوقی، صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم نے کہا: ہم اللہ تعالیٰ سے خیر طلب کرتے ہیں، اور دونوں کو بلا بھیجتے ہیں ( پھر جو کوئی پہلے آئے گا، ہم اسے کام میں لگائیں گے ) اور جو بعد میں آئے اسے چھوڑ دیں گے، ان دونوں کو بلوایا گیا، تو بغلی قبر بنانے والا پہلے آ گیا، لہٰذا آپ ﷺ کے لیے بغلی قبر بنائی گئی۔
Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke jab Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka intikal ho gaya, to Madinah mein qabar banane wale do shakhs thay, ek bagli qabar banata tha, aur dusra sandooqi, Sahaba kرام Radi Allahu anhum ne kaha: hum Allah Ta'ala se khair talab karte hain, aur donon ko bula bhijhte hain ( phir jo koi pehle aayega, hum use kaam mein lagaayenge ) aur jo baad mein aaye usse chhod denge, in donon ko bulaya gaya, to bagli qabar banane wala pehle aa gaya, lihaza aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke liye bagli qabar banai gai.
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَلْحَدُ، وَآخَرُ يَضْرَحُ، فَقَالُوا: نَسْتَخِيرُ رَبَّنَا، وَنَبْعَثُ إِلَيْهِمَا، فَأَيُّهُمَا سُبِقَ تَرَكْنَاهُ، فَأُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمَا فَسَبَقَ صَاحِبُ اللَّحْدِ، فَلَحَدُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ .
