It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (رضئ الله تعالی عنہ) that the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) said: ‘How much of the month has passed?” We said: “Twenty-two (days), and there are eight left.” The Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) said: “The month is like that, and the month is like that, (and the month is like that), three times, and he withheld one finger the last time.”

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: مہینہ میں کتنے دن گزرے ہیں؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: بائیس دن گزرے ہیں اور آٹھ دن باقی ہیں، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: مہینہ اتنا، اتنا اور اتنا ہے، اور تیسری بار ایک انگلی بند کر لی ۔
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: mahine mein kitne din guzre hain? Hum ne arz kiya: bais din guzre hain aur aath din baqi hain, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: mahina itna, itna aur itna hai, aur teesri bar ek angli band kar li
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ؟ ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا: اثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَتْ ثَمَانٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا، وَالشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا، وَالشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، وَأَمْسَكَ وَاحِدَةً .
