It is narrated by Isaac bin Abdullah that the Governor of Madinah, Walid bin Utbah, sent him to Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, “O my nephew, go and ask him how they performed the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa) on the day when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took the people with him to pray for rain." Isaac said, “I went to Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked, ‘O Abu Abbas, how did you perform the prayer for rain on the day when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed for rain?’ He replied, ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out with great humility and simplicity, and he prayed the Salat al-Istisqa in the same way as he used to pray the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers.’”
جناب اسحاق بن عبداللہ سے روایت ہے کہ مدینہ منوّرہ کے گورنر جناب ولید بن عتبہ نے اُنہیں سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس بھیجا اور اُنہیں کہا کہ اے میرے بھتیجے، اُن سے پوچھ کر آؤ کہ جس دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کو ساتھ لیکر بارش کی دعا کی تھی اُس دن آپ نے (دعا اور نماز) استسقاء میں کیسے عمل کیا تھا؟ جناب اسحاق فرماتے ہیں کہ میں سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا۔ میں نے عرض کی کہ اے ابوالعباس، جس روز رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بارش کی دعا کی تھی اُس روز آپ نے دعا اور نماز استسقاء میں کیسے عمل کیا تھا؟ تو اُنہوں نے فرمایا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (اُس روز) نہایت عاجزی اور سادگی کے ساتھ نکلے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز استسقاء میں اسی طرح کیا جیسے آپ نماز عیدالفطر اور عید الاضحٰی میں کرتے تھے۔
Janab Ishaq bin Abdullah se riwayat hai keh Madina Munawwara ke governor Janab Walid bin Utba ne unhen Syedna Ibn Abbas Radi Allah Anhuma ke paas bheja aur unhen kaha keh aye merey bhatijay, un se pooch kar aao keh jis din Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne logon ko saath lekar barish ki dua ki thi us din aap ne (dua aur namaz) istisqa mein kaise amal kiya tha? Janab Ishaq farmate hain keh mein Syedna Ibn Abbas Radi Allah Anhuma ki khidmat mein hazir hua. Mein ne arz ki keh aye Abu Al Abbas, jis roz Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne barish ki dua ki thi us roz aap ne dua aur namaz istisqa mein kaise amal kiya tha? To unhon ne farmaya keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (us roz) nihayat aajzi aur sadgi ke saath nikle to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne namaz istisqa mein usi tarah kiya jaise aap namaz Eid-ul-Fitr aur Eid-ul-Adha mein karte thay.
نَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبَانَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ الْمَدِينِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَدَّهُ هِشَامَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ أَمِيرَ الْمَدِينَةِ، أَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، سَلْهُ كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الاسْتِسْقَاءِ يَوْمَ اسْتَسْقَى بِالنَّاسِ؟ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ ، كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الاسْتِسْقَاءِ يَوْمَ اسْتَسْقَى؟ قَالَ:" خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَخَشِّعًا، مُتَبَذِّلا، فَصَنَعَ فِيهِ كَمَا يَصْنَعُ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالأَضْحَى"
