It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not go out (to the Eid prayer) on the day of Eid al-Fitr without eating something. And he would not eat anything on the day of Eid al-Adha until he had offered the sacrifice.

سیدنا بریدہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عید الفطر والے دن کچھ نہ کچھ کھائے بغیر (عید گاہ) نہیں جاتے تھے۔ اور عید الاضحیٰ والے دن قربانی کرنے تک کچھ نہیں کھاتے تھے۔

نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، نَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَوَابُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ ، نَا ابْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" كَانَ لا يَخْرُجُ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ حَتَّى يَطْعَمَ، وَلا يَطْعَمُ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ حَتَّى يَذْبَحَ"
