Sayyiduna Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and led the prayer. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began with the prayer before the sermon, then he delivered the sermon to the people. When the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished, he came down (from the pulpit) and went to the women. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) admonished and advised them while leaning on the hand of Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) had spread out his cloth, and the women were putting charity in it. Ibn Juraij said: “I asked ‘Ata’ (may Allah have mercy on him), ‘Were they paying Sadaqat al-Fitr?’ He said: ‘No, rather they were giving ordinary charity at that time. The women were putting their anklets, bracelets, etc. (in the cloth of Sayyiduna Bilal).’”

سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عید الفطر والے دن کھڑے ہوئے تو آپ نے نماز پڑھائی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے خطبہ سے پہلے نماز سے ابتداء کی، پھر لوگوں کو خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا، جب اللہ کے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فارغ ہوئے تو (منبرسے) نیچے اُترے اور عورتوں کے پاس تشریف لائے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اُنہیں اس حال میں وعظ ونصیحت فرمائی کہ آپ سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہاتھ پر ٹیک لگائے ہوئے تھے اور سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنا کپڑا پھیلایا ہوا تھا، عورتیں اس میں صدقہ ڈال رہی تھیں۔ ابن جریج کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عطا ء سے پو چھا کیا وہ صدقہ فطر ادا کررہی تھیں؟ تو اُنہوں نے فرمایا کہ نہیں، بلکہ وہ اُس وقت عام صدقہ کر رہی تھیں۔ عورتیں اپنی پازیب اور کنگن وغیرہ (سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کی چادر میں) ڈال رہیں تھیں۔
Sayyidna Jabir bin Abdullah Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ki Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Eid-ul-Fitr wale din kharay huye to aap ne namaz parhai, aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne khutba se pehle namaz se ibtida ki, phir logon ko khutba irshad farmaya, jab Allah ke Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam farigh huye to (mimbar se) neeche utre aur auraton ke pass tashreef laye. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne unhen is hal mein waaz-o-nasihat farmai ki aap Sayyidna Bilal Radi Allahu Anhu ke hath par tek lagaye huye thay aur Sayyidna Bilal Radi Allahu Anhu ne apna kapda phelaya hua tha, auraten us mein sadaqah daal rahi thin. Ibn Juraij kehte hain ki maine Hazrat Ata se poocha kya woh sadaqa fitr ada kar rahi thin? to unhon ne farmaya ki nahin, balki woh us waqt aam sadaqah kar rahi thin. Auraten apni pazeb aur kangan waghaira (Sayyidna Bilal Radi Allahu Anhu ki chadar mein) daal rahi thin.
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ:" إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ فَصَلَّى، فَبَدَأَ بِالصَّلاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَزَلَ فَأَتَى النِّسَاءَ، فَذَكَّرَهُنَّ وَهُوَ يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى يَدِ بِلالٍ، وَبِلالٌ بَاسِطٌ ثَوْبَهُ يُلْقِينَ النِّسَاءُ صَدَقَةً"، قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: زَكَاةُ الْفِطْرِ؟ قَالَ: لا، وَلَكِنَّهُ صَدَقَةٌ يَتَصَدَّقْنَ بِهَا حِينَئِذٍ، تُلْقِي الْمَرْأَةُ فَتْخَهَا، وَيُلْقِينَ
