Sayyiduna Bara' bin 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when we would stand in rows for prayer, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would come to us and align our shoulders and chests with his blessed hand, saying, "Your chests should not be misaligned, for then your hearts will become misaligned. Indeed, Allah Almighty bestows His mercy upon those in the first row, and His angels supplicate for them with mercy and forgiveness." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Adorn the Qur'an with your voices." 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awsajah said, "I had forgotten these words: 'Adorn the Qur'an with your voices,' until Dhahak bin Muzahim reminded me of them."

سیدنا براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب ہم نماز کے لئے کھڑے ہوتے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے پاس تشریف لاتے اور ہمارے کندھوں اور سینوں کو اپنے دست مبارک سے برابر کرتے اور فرماتے: ”تمہارے سینے مختلف (آگے پیچھے) نہیں ہونے چا ہئیں وگرنہ تمہارے دل بھی مختلف ہو جائیں گے۔ بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ پہلی صف والوں پر اپنی رحمت نازل فرماتا ہے اور اُس کے فرشتے اُن کے لئے رحمت و بخشش کی دعا کرتے ہیں۔“ اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”قرآن مجید کو (اپنی آوازوں کے ساتھ) زینت دو -“ جناب عبدالرحمان بن عوسجہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں یہ الفاظ بھول گیا تھا۔ ”قرآن مجید کو اپنی آوازوں کے سا تھ زینت دو“ حتّیٰ کہ ضحاک بن مزاحم نے مجھے یہ الفاظ یاد دلائے۔
Sayyidina Bara bin Aazib Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ke jab hum namaz ke liye kharay hote to Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam humare pass tashreef late aur humare kandhon aur seeno ko apne dast mubarak se barabar karte aur farmate: “Tumhare seenay mukhtalif (aage peeche) nahin hone chahiye warna tumhare dil bhi mukhtalif ho jayenge. Beshak Allah Ta’ala pehli saf walon par apni rehmat nazil farmata hai aur uske farishtay unke liye rehmat o bakhshish ki dua karte hain.” Aur Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: “Quran Majeed ko (apni aawazon ke sath) zeenat do -” Janab Abdur Rahman bin Ausjah kehte hain ke main yeh alfaz bhul gaya tha. “Quran Majeed ko apni aawazon ke sath zeenat do” hatta ke Zihak bin Muzahim ne mujhe yeh alfaz yaad dilaye.
نا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَيَحْيَى ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ طَلْحَةَ الأَيَامِيَّ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْسَجَةَ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ يُحَدِّثُ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينَا إِذَا قُمْنَا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ فَيَمْسَحُ عَوَاتِقَنَا وَصُدُورَنَا، وَيَقُولُ: " لا تَخْتَلِفْ صُدُورُكُمْ فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الأَوَّلِ" وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " زَيِّنُوا الْقُرْآنَ" . قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْسَجَةَ: كُنْتُ نَسِيتُ:" زَيِّنُوا الْقُرْآنَ بِأَصْوَاتِكُمْ"، حَتَّى ذَكَّرَنِيهِ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ
