Muwatta Imam Malik 22
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that once Umar ibn al-Khattab left after doing the asr prayer and met a man who had not been there. Umar asked him what had kept him from the prayer and eventhough the man gave a good reason, Umar said, "You have given yourself short measure."Yahya added that Malik commented, "It is said that everything has a short measure and a full measure."

حضرت یحیی بن سعید رحمہ اللہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نمازِ عصر پڑھ کر واپس لوٹے تو ایک ایسے شخص سے ملاقات ہوئی جو عصر ( کی جماعت ) میں حاضر نہ ہوا تھا ، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا کہ تمھیں نمازِ عصر سے کس چیز نے روکے رکھا تھا ، اُس آدمی نے ان کے سامنے کوئی عذر پیش کیا تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا : تو نے کمی کر دی ہے ۔
Hazrat Yahya bin Saeed rehmatullah alaih se riwayat hai ki Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) namaz-e-Asar parh kar wapas lote to ek aise shakhs se mulakat hui jo Asar (ki jamaat) mein hazir nah hua tha, Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne pucha ki tumhen namaz-e-Asar se kis cheez ne roke rakha tha, us aadmi ne unke samne koi uzr pesh kiya to Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya: to ne kami kar di hai.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ انْصَرَفَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ فَلَقِيَ رَجُلًا لَمْ يَشْهَدِ الْعَصْرَ . فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : « مَا حَبَسَكَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ »؟ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ عُذْرًا ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : « طَفَّفْتَ » قَالَ يَحْيَى : قَالَ مَالِكٌ ، وَيُقَالُ : « لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَفَاءٌ وَتَطْفِيفٌ »
