Description of Witr prayer

‘Ali said that the Prophet used to say at the end of hiswitr, “O God, I seek refuge in Thy good pleasure from Thine anger, and in Thy forgiveness from Thy punishment, and I seek refuge in Thy mercy from Thy wrath.* I cannot reckon the praise due to Thee. Thou art as Thou hast glorified Thyself.” * Literally ‘in Thee from Thee’. Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

علی ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ وتر کے آخر پر یہ دعا کیا کرتے تھے :’’ اے اللہ ! میں تیری رضا کے ذریعے تیری ناراضی سے ، تیرے درگزر کے ذریعے تیری سزا سے پناہ چاہتا ہوں ، میں تجھ سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں ، جیسے تو نے اپنی ذات کی ثنا فرمائی ہے ویسے میں کوشش کے باوجود تیری ثنا بیان نہیں کر سکتا ۔‘‘ صحیح ، رواہ ابوداؤد و الترمذی و النسائی و ابن ماجہ ۔
Ali bayan karte hain ke Nabi Witar ke akhir par yeh dua kiya karte thay: Aye Allah! mein teri raza ke zariye teri narazgi se, tere darguzar ke zariye teri saza se panah chahta hun, mein tujhse teri panah chahta hun, jaise tune apni zaat ki sana farmaai hai waise mein koshish ke bawajood teri sana bayan nahin kar sakta. Sahih, riwayat Abu Dawood wa Tirmidhi wa Nasai wa Ibn Majah.
وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي آخِرِ وَتْرِهِ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ من سخطك وبمعافاتك من عُقُوبَتك وَأَعُوذ بك مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ
