Ibn ‘Abbas said:No wind ever blew without the Prophet getting down on his knees and saying, "O God, make it a blessing and do not make it a punishment. O God, make it to be winds and do not make it a single wind.” Ibn ‘Abbas remarked that the Book of God most high contains these words, "We sent upon them a furious wind;"1 "We sent upon them the devastating wind;"2 "And We sent the winds fertilising;"3 and "We sent the winds as heralds of glad tidings."4 1. The quotations are meant to show that when 'wind’ is used without qualification in the Qur’an it indicates punishment, but the use of 'winds without qualification indicates blessing. Shafi'i and Baihaqi, in[Kitab] ad-da'awat al-kabir, transmitted it.

ابن عباس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں جب کبھی بھی ہوا چلتی تو نبی ﷺ اپنے گھٹنوں کے بل بیٹھ کر یوں دعا کرتے :’’ اے اللہ ! اسے رحمت بنا ، اسے عذاب نہ بنا ، اے اللہ ! اسے باد رحمت بنا اور اسے باعث عذاب ہوا نہ بنا ۔‘‘ ابن عباس ؓ نے فرمایا : اللہ تعالیٰ کی کتاب میں ہے :’’ ہم نے ان پر ایک سخت آندھی بھیجی ۔‘‘ اور :’’ ہم نے ان پر ایک سخت آندھی بھیجی ۔‘‘ ’’ ہم نے ابر اٹھانے والی ہوائیں بھیجیں ۔‘‘ اور :’’ وہ تمہیں خوشخبری سنانے کے لیے ہوائیں بھیجتا ہے ۔‘‘ ضعیف ۔
Ibne Abbas bayan karte hain jab kabhi bhi hawa chalti to Nabi apne ghutnon ke bal baith kar yun dua karte: Aye Allah! Ise rehmat bana, ise azab na bana, Aye Allah! Ise bad rehmat bana aur ise baais azab hawa na bana. Ibne Abbas ne farmaya: Allah Taala ki kitaab mein hai: Hum ne un par ek sakht aandhi bheji. Aur: Hum ne un par ek sakht aandhi bheji. Hum ne abbar uthane wali hawayen bhejin. Aur: Woh tumhen khushkhabri sunane ke liye hawayen bhejna hai. Zaeef.
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: مَا هَبَّتْ رِيحٌ قَطُّ إِلَّا جَثَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم على رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَقَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا رَحْمَةً وَلَا تَجْعَلْهَا عَذَابًا اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا رِيَاحًا وَلَا تَجْعَلْهَا رِيحًا» . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: (إِنَّا أرسلنَا عَلَيْهِم ريحًا صَرْصَرًا)\و (أرسلنَا عَلَيْهِم الرّيح الْعَقِيم)\(وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاح لَوَاقِح)\و (أَن يُرْسل الرِّيَاح مُبَشِّرَات)\رَوَاهُ الشَّافِعِي وَالْبَيْهَقِيّ فِي الدَّعْوَات الْكَبِير\
