Mishkat al-Masabih 1842
Hakim b. Hizam said he begged from God’s messenger and he gave him something, later he begged again and when he had given him something he said, “Hakim, this property is green and sweet, and he who receives it with a liberal mind will be blessed in it, but he who receives it with an avaricious mind will not be blessed in it, being like one who eats without being satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower one.” * Hakim told that he replied, “Messenger of God, by Him who sent you with the truth, I shall not accept anyone’s bounty after this till I leave the world.” (Bukhari and Muslim.) * The upper hand is that of the giver and the lower hand is that of the receiver. The sentence is equivalent to saying that it is better to give than to receive.

حکیم بن حزام ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے سوال کیا تو آپ نے مجھے عطا کر دیا ، پھر میں نے آپ سے سوال کیا تو آپ نے مجھے عطا کر دیا ، پھر آپ ﷺ نے مجھے فرمایا :’’ حکیم ! یہ مال سرسبزو شیریں ہے ، جس نے سخاوت نفس کے ساتھ اسے حاصل کیا تو اس کے لیے اس میں برکت دی جاتی ہے ، اور جس نے حرص و طمع کے ساتھ اسے حاصل کیا تو اس کے لیے اس میں برکت نہیں دی جاتی ، اور وہ اس شخص کی مانند ہے جو کھاتا ہے لیکن سیر نہیں ہوتا ، اور اوپر والا ہاتھ نچلے والے ہاتھ سے بہتر ہے ۔‘‘ حکیم ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، میں نے عرض کیا ، اللہ کے رسول ! اس ذات کی قسم جس نے آپ کو حق کے ساتھ مبعوث فرمایا ! میں آپ کے بعد زندگی بھر کسی سے کوئی چیز نہیں مانگوں گا ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Hakeem bin Hizam RA bayan karte hain, maine Rasool Allah SAW se sawal kiya to aap ne mujhe ata kar diya, phir maine aap se sawal kiya to aap ne mujhe ata kar diya, phir aap SAW ne mujhe farmaya: "Hakeem! Yeh maal sar sabzo shireen hai, jis ne sakhawat nafs ke sath ise hasil kiya to uske liye is mein barkat di jati hai, aur jis ne haras o tama ke sath ise hasil kiya to uske liye is mein barkat nahin di jati, aur woh us shakhs ki manind hai jo khata hai lekin ser nahin hota, aur upar wala hath niche wale hath se behtar hai." Hakeem RA bayan karte hain, maine arz kiya, Allah ke Rasool! Is zaat ki qasam jis ne aap ko haq ke sath mabus farmaaya! Main aap ke bad zindagi bhar kisi se koi cheez nahin maangoon ga." Mutafaq Alaih.
وَعَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ: سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: «يَا حَكِيمُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرٌ حُلْوٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِسَخَاوَةِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ. وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى» . قَالَ حَكِيمٌ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَا أَرْزَأُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ شَيْئًا حَتَّى أُفَارِقَ الدُّنْيَا
