Description of seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) and repentance (Taubah)
بيان الاستغفار والتوبة
Mishkat al-Masabih 2329
Abu Musa reported God’s messenger as saying, "God stretches out His hand at night that those who have done evil during the day may repent and stretches out His hand in the day-time that those who have done evil during the night may repent, until [the time when] the sun rises in the west." Muslim transmitted it.

ابوموسیٰ اشعری ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اللہ رات کے وقت اپنا ہاتھ پھیلاتا ہے تاکہ دن کے وقت گناہ کرنے والا توبہ کر لے ، اور وہ دن کے وقت اپنا ہاتھ پھیلاتا ہے تاکہ رات کے وقت گناہ کرنے والا توبہ کر لے (اور یہ سلسلہ جاری رہتا ہے) حتیٰ کہ سورج مغرب کی طرف سے طلوع ہو جائے (یعنی قیامت تک) ۔‘‘ رواہ مسلم ۔
Abu Musa Ashari bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Allah raat ke waqt apna hath phelata hai taakh din ke waqt gunah karne wala tauba kar le, aur wo din ke waqt apna hath phelata hai taakh raat ke waqt gunah karne wala tauba kar le (aur ye silsila jari rehta hai) hata ke sooraj maghrib ki taraf se talu ho jaye (yani qayamat tak).'' Riwayat Muslim.
وَعَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ يَدَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ لِيَتُوبَ مُسِيءُ النَّهَارِ وَيَبْسُطُ يَدَهُ بِالنَّهَارِ لِيَتُوبَ مُسِيءُ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا» . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
