Description of the vast mercy of Allah the Most Merciful
بيان وسعة رحمة الله تعالى
Mishkat al-Masabih 2378
‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar said:When we were with the Prophet on one of his expeditions he came upon some people and asked who they were, to which they replied that they were Muslims. A woman who had a son of hers with her was kindling a fire under her pot, and when the heat increased she moved him away. She then went to the Prophet and asked, “Are you God’s messenger?” On his replying that he was, she said, “You for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom, tell me if God is not the most merciful of those who are merciful.” He replied that He certainly is, and she asked, “Is God not more merciful to His servants than a mother to her child?” and when he assured her that He certainly is, she replied that a mother does not cast her child into the fire. God’s messenger then bowed his head and wept, and afterwards raised it, looked at her and said, “God punishes only those of His servants who act audaciously towards Him and refuse to say that there is no god but God.” Ibn Majah transmitted it.

عبداللہ بن عمر ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، ہم رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ کسی غزوہ میں شریک تھے ، آپ ﷺ کسی قوم کے پاس سے گزرے تو فرمایا :’’ کون لوگ ہو ؟‘‘ انہوں نے عرض کیا ، ہم مسلمان ہیں ، وہاں ایک عورت ہنڈیا کے نیچے آگ جلا رہی تھی ، اور اس کے ساتھ اس کا بیٹا تھا ، جب آگ کی تپش تیز ہوتی تو وہ اس بچے کو دور کر لیتی ، وہ نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئی اور عرض کیا : آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ ہاں ۔‘‘ اس نے عرض کیا ، میرے والدین آپ پر قربان ہوں ، کیا اللہ سب سے بڑھ کر رحم کرنے والا نہیں ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ کیوں نہیں ۔‘‘ پھر اس نے عرض کیا ، کیا اللہ اپنے بندوں پر ، ماں کے اپنے بچے پر رحم کرنے سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا نہیں ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ کیوں نہیں ۔‘‘ اس نے عرض کیا : پھر ماں تو یقیناً اپنے بچے کو آگ میں نہیں ڈال سکتی ، رسول اللہ ﷺ سر جھکا کر رونے لگے ، پھر آپ نے اس کی طرف سر اٹھا کر فرمایا :’’ اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے صرف سرکش لوگوں کو عذاب دے گا اور وہ سرکش بھی ایسے جو اللہ کے خلاف سرکشی کرتے ہیں اور ((لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہُ)) کہنے سے انکار کر دیتے ہیں ۔‘‘ اسنادہ موضوع ، رواہ ابن ماجہ ۔
Abdullah bin Umar bayan karte hain, hum Rasool Allah ke sath kisi gazwa mein shareek the, Aap kisi qaum ke paas se guzre to farmaya: ''Kaun log ho?'' Unhon ne arz kiya, hum Musalman hain, wahan ek aurat handi ke neeche aag jala rahi thi, aur uske sath uska beta tha, jab aag ki tapish tez hoti to woh us bacche ko door kar leti, woh Nabi ki khidmat mein hazir hui aur arz kiya: Aap Allah ke Rasool hain? Aap ne farmaya: ''Haan.'' Usne arz kiya, mere waldain Aap par qurban hon, kya Allah sabse badh kar reham karne wala nahin? Aap ne farmaya: ''Kyon nahin.'' Phir usne arz kiya, kya Allah apne bandon par, maan ke apne bacche par reham karne se ziada reham karne wala nahin? Aap ne farmaya: ''Kyon nahin.'' Usne arz kiya: Phir maan to yaqeenan apne bacche ko aag mein nahin daal sakti, Rasool Allah sar jhuka kar rone lage, phir Aap ne uski taraf sar utha kar farmaya: ''Allah apne bandon mein se sirf sarkash logon ko azab dega aur woh sarkash bhi aise jo Allah ke khilaf sarkashi karte hain aur (La ilaha illallah) kahne se inkar kar dete hain.'' عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ غَزَوَاتِهِ فَمَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ فَقَالَ: «مَنِ الْقَوْمُ؟» قَالُوا: نَحْنُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَامْرَأَةٌ تَحْضِبُ بِقِدْرِهَا وَمَعَهَا ابْنٌ لَهَا فَإِذَا ارْتَفَعَ وَهَجٌ تَنَحَّتْ بِهِ فَأَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» قَالَتْ: بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ؟ قَالَ: «بَلَى» قَالَتْ: أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ أَرْحَمَ بِعِبَادِهِ مِنَ الْأُم على وَلَدهَا؟ قَالَ: «بَلَى» قَالَتْ: إِنَّ الْأُمَّ لَا تُلْقِي وَلَدَهَا فِي النَّارِ فَأَكَبَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَبْكِي ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُعَذِّبُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ إِلَّا الْمَارِدَ الْمُتَمَرِّدَ الَّذِي يَتَمَرَّدُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَأَبَى أَنْ يَقُولَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله . رَوَاهُ ابْن مَاجَه
