He told that God’s Messenger and his companions went off and reached Badr before the polytheists, and when the polytheists arrived he said, “Rise to go to a garden whose breadth is as great as the heavens and the earth.” ‘Umair b. al-Humam thereupon said, “Bravo, bravo!” and when God’s Messenger asked him what had made him say that, he replied, “Nothing, I swear by God, Messenger of God, but a hope that I might be among its inhabitants.” He told him that he would be among them. He then took some dates out of his quiver and began to eat them, but after a little said, “If I live till I eat my dates it will mean a long life.” So he threw away the dates he had and then fought with the enemy till he was killed. Muslim transmitted it.

انس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ اور آپ ﷺ کے صحابہ ؓ روانہ ہوئے حتی کہ وہ مشرکین سے پہلے بدر پہنچ گئے ، اور مشرکین بھی پہنچ گئے ، تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اس جنت کی طرف پیش قدمی کرو جس کا عرض زمین و آسمان کی مانند ہے ۔‘‘ عمیر بن حُمام ؓ نے کہا : بہت خوب ، بہت خوب ! رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تمہیں یہ بات : بہت خوب ، بہت خوب ، کہنے پر کس چیز نے آمادہ کیا ؟‘‘ انہوں نے عرض کیا : اللہ کے رسول ! اللہ کی قسم ! صرف اس امید نے کہ میں بھی جنتیوں میں سے ہو جاؤں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تم جنتیوں میں سے ہو ۔‘‘ انہوں نے ترکش سے کھجوریں نکالیں اور کھانے لگے ، پھر کہا : اگر میں اپنی کھجوریں کھانے تک زندہ رہا تو پھر یہ ایک طویل زندگی ہے ، راوی بیان کرتے ہیں ، ان کے پاس جو کھجوریں تھیں ، وہ انہوں نے پھینک دیں ، پھر مشرکین کے ساتھ قتال کیا حتی کہ وہ شہید کر دیے گئے ۔ رواہ مسلم ۔
Anas bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah aur aap ke sahaba rawana huye hatta ke woh mushrikeen se pehle Badr pahunch gaye, aur mushrikeen bhi pahunch gaye, to Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Iss jannat ki taraf peshqadmi karo jiska arz zameen o aasman ki manind hai.'' Umair bin Humam ne kaha: Bahut khoob, bahut khoob! Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Tumhen ye baat: Bahut khoob, bahut khoob, kehne par kis cheez ne aamada kiya?'' Unhon ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Allah ki qasam! Sirf iss umeed ne ke main bhi jannation mein se ho jaun, aap ne farmaya: ''Tum jannation mein se ho.'' Unhon ne tarkash se khajoorein nikali aur khane lage, phir kaha: Agar main apni khajoorein khane tak zinda raha to phir ye ek tawil zindagi hai, raavi bayan karte hain, unke paas jo khajoorein thin, woh unhon ne phenk din, phir mushrikeen ke sath qital kiya hatta ke woh shaheed kar diye gaye. وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: انْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ حَتَّى سَبَقُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ وَجَاءَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «قُومُوا إِلَى جَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ» . قَالَ عُمَيْرُ بْنُ الْحُمَامِ: بَخْ بَخْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى قَوْلِكَ: بَخْ بَخْ؟ قَالَ: لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا رَجَاءَ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا قَالَ: «فَإِنَّكَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا» قَالَ: فَأَخْرَجَ تَمَرَاتٍ مِنْ قَرْنِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُنَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَئِنْ أَنَا حَيِيتُ حَتَّى آكل تمراتي إِنَّهَا الْحَيَاة طَوِيلَةٌ قَالَ: فَرَمَى بِمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ ثُمَّ قَاتَلَهُمْ حَتَّى قُتِلَ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
