Ibn ‘Abbas reported God’s Messenger as saying to his companions, “When your brethren were smitten at the battle of Uhud God put their spirits in the crops of green birds which go down to the rivers of paradise, eat its fruits and nestle in lamps of gold in the shade of the Throne. Then when they experienced the sweetness of their food, drink and rest they asked who would tell their brethren about them that they were alive in paradise in order that they might not cease to desire paradise or recoil in war. God most high said He would tell them about them, so He sent down, ‘And do not consider those who have been killed in God’s path to be dead; nay, they are alive in the presence of their Lord and are being supplied with provision . ..” (Al-Qur’an; 3:169 ff.) Abu Dawud transmitted it.

ابن عباس ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اپنے صحابہ ؓ سے فرمایا :’’ جب غزوہ احد میں تمہارے بھائی شہید کر دیے گئے تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کی روحیں سبز پرندوں کے پیٹ میں داخل کر دیں ، وہ جنت کی نہروں پر آتے ہیں ، جنت کے میوے کھاتے ہیں اور عرش کے سائے میں معلق سونے کی قندیلوں میں بسیرا کرتے ہیں ، چنانچہ جب وہ بہترین کھانا پینا اور آرام گاہ پاتے ہیں تو وہ کہتے ہیں ، ہمارے متعلق ہمارے بھائیوں کو کون بتائے کہ ہم جنت میں زندہ ہیں تاکہ وہ بھی جنت کی رغبت رکھیں اور لڑائی (جہاد) کے وقت سستی نہ کریں ، اللہ تعالیٰ نے کہا : میں تمہاری بات ان تک پہنچاؤں گا ، چنانچہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل فرمائی :’’ اللہ کی راہ میں قتل ہو جانے والوں کو مردہ مت گمان کرو ، بلکہ وہ زندہ ہیں ۔‘‘ آخر آیت تک ۔ حسن ، رواہ ابوداؤد (۲۵۲۰) و صحیحہ الحاکم (۲ / ۵۸۸ ، ۲۹۷) ۔
Ibn Abbas R.A se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah SAW ne apne sahaba R.A se farmaya: '' Jab Ghazwah Uhud mein tumhare bhai shaheed kar diye gaye to Allah Ta'ala ne un ki roohein sabz parindon ke pet mein dakhil kar din, woh jannat ki nahron par aate hain, jannat ke mewe khate hain aur Arsh ke saaye mein mulaq sone ki qandilon mein basera karte hain, chunanchah jab woh behtarin khana peena aur araam gah pate hain to woh kehte hain, hamare muta'alliq hamare bhaiyon ko kaun bataye ki hum jannat mein zinda hain taaki woh bhi jannat ki ragbat rakhein aur ladai (jihad) ke waqt susti na karen, Allah Ta'ala ne kaha: mein tumhari baat un tak pahunchaunga, chunanchah Allah Ta'ala ne yeh ayat nazil farmayi: '' Allah ki raah mein qatal ho jaane walon ko murda mat gumaan karo, balki woh zinda hain. '' Aakhir ayat tak. Hasan, Riwayat Abu Dawood (2520) wa Sahiha al-Hakim (2 / 588, 297).
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: إِنَّهُ لَمَّا أُصِيبَ إِخْوَانُكُمْ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ أَرْوَاحَهُمْ فِي جَوْفِ طَيْرٍ خُضْرٍ تَرِدُ أَنْهَارَ الْجَنَّةِ تَأْكُلُ مِنْ ثِمَارِهَا وَتَأْوِي إِلَى قَنَادِيلَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فِي ظلِّ العرْشِ فلمَّا وجَدوا طِيبَ مأكَلِهِم ومشرَبِهمْ ومَقِيلهِم قَالُوا: مَنْ يُبلِّغُ إِخْوانَنا عنَا أَنَّنا أَحْيَاءٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لِئَلَّا يَزْهَدُوا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا يَنكُلوا عندَ الحربِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أَنا أبلغكم عَنْكُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: (وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ)\إِلَى أخر الْآيَات)\رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد\
