Mishkat al-Masabih 3925
Sahl b. Sa'd reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The lord of the people on a journey is their servant,* and he who precedes them in service will not be preceded by them on account of any deed but martyrdom.” * This is said to mean either that the leader must look after the interests of his followers, or that even the humblest member who serves the others is rewarded by God as if he were the dealer. Baihaqi transmitted it inShu'ab al-iman.

سہل بن سعد ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ قوم کا سردار سفر میں ان کا خادم ہوتا ہے ، جس نے کسی خدمت کے ذریعے ان پر سبقت حاصل کر لی تو وہ لوگ ماسوائے شہادت کے کسی اور عمل کے ذریعے اس شخص سے آگے نہیں بڑھ سکتے ۔‘‘ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ البیھقی فی شعب الایمان ۔
Sahl bin Saad bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: Qom ka sardar safar mein un ka khadim hota hai, jis ne kisi khidmat ke zariye un par subqat hasil kar li to wo log maswai shahadat ke kisi aur amal ke zariye us shakhs se aage nahin badh sakte. Isnaadahu zaeef, Rawahu al-Bayhaqi fi Shu'ab al-Iman.
وَعَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «سَيِّدُ الْقَوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ خَادِمُهُمْ فَمَنْ سَبَقَهُمْ بِخِدْمَةٍ لَمْ يَسْبِقُوهُ بِعَمَلٍ إِلَّا الشَّهَادَةَ» . رَوَاهُ الْبَيْهَقِيّ فِي «شعب الْإِيمَان»
