Hisham b. Zaid quoted Anas as saying that he went to visit the Prophet when he was in an enclosure and saw him branding sheep. He thought he said it was on their ears. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

ہشام بن زید ؒ ، انس ؓ سے روایت کرتے ہیں ، انہوں نے فرمایا : میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا تو آپ باڑے میں تھے ، میں نے آپ کو دیکھا کہ آپ بکریوں کو نشان لگا رہے تھے ، راوی بیان کرتے ہیں ، میرا خیال ہے کہ انہوں نے کہا : آپ ان (بکریوں) کے کانوں پر نشان لگا رہے تھے ۔ متفق علیہ ۔
Hisham bin Zaid RA, Anas RA se riwayat karte hain, unhon ne farmaya: Main Nabi SAW ki khidmat mein hazir hua to aap baare mein thay, maine aap ko dekha keh aap bakriyon ko nishan laga rahe thay, ravi bayan karte hain, mera khayal hai keh unhon ne kaha: Aap in (bakriyon) ke kaano par nishan laga rahe thay. Muttafiq Alaih.
