Ibn 'Abbas said:A man of the Ansar who was a companion of the Prophet told me that while they were sitting one night along with God’s messenger, a star was thrown and shone brightly. He asked them what they used to say in the pre-Islamic period when something of that nature was thrown, and they replied, “God and His messenger know best. We used to say that a great man had been born that night, or that a great man had died." Then God’s messenger said, “It is not thrown because of anyone’s death or life; but when our Lord whose name is blessed decrees a matter the bearers of the Throne extol Him, then the inhabitants of heaven who are next to them extol Him till the extolling reaches the inhabitants of this lowest heaven. Then those who are near the bearers of the Throne ask them what their Lord has said and they tell them what He said. Then the inhabitants of the heavens ask one another till it reaches this lowest heaven. The jinn then snatch a hearing and pass it on to their friends and have [flames] thrown at them. Now what they bring as it came is true, but they mix things with it and make additions." Muslim transmitted it.

ابن عباس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، نبی ﷺ کے انصار صحابہ میں سے ایک صحابی نے مجھے بیان کیا کہ اس اثنا میں کہ ایک رات ہم رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ ایک ستارہ ٹوٹا اور روشن ہوا ۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ان سے پوچھا :’’ جب دورِ جاہلیت میں اس طرح ستارہ ٹوٹتا تھا تو تم کیا کہا کرتے تھے ؟‘‘ انہوں نے عرض کیا ، اللہ اور اس کے رسول ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں ، تاہم یہ کہا کرتے تھے اس رات کوئی عظیم آدمی پیدا ہوا ہے یا کوئی عظیم آدمی فوت ہوا ہے ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ ستارہ نہ کسی کی موت پر ٹوٹتا ہے اور نہ کسی کی حیات پر ، لیکن جب ہمارا رب ، بابرکت ہے نام اس کا ، کوئی فیصلہ فرماتا ہے تو حاملین عرش تسبیح بیان کرتے ہیں ، بعد ازاں ان سے قریب آسمان والے فرشتے سبحان اللہ کہتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ تسبیح کی یہ آواز آسمان دنیا کے فرشتوں تک پہنچ جاتی ہے ، پھر وہ فرشتے جو عرش کو اٹھانے والے فرشتوں کے قریب ہوتے ہیں وہ حاملینِ عرش سے کہتے ہیں ، تمہارے رب نے کیا کہا ہے ؟ تو وہ انہیں بتاتے ہیں جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے کہا ہوتا ہے ، آسمان والے ایک دوسرے سے پوچھتے ہیں ، حتی کہ خبر آسمان دنیا تک پہنچ جاتی ہے چنانچہ شیاطین اس بات کو اچک لیتے ہیں ، اور وہ اپنے ساتھیوں کو القا کر دیتے ہیں ، اور اسی دوران انہیں انگارے مارے جاتے ہیں ، جو خبر وہ اصل شکل میں القا کر دیتے ہیں وہ تو حق اور درست ہوتی ہے ، لیکن وہ اس میں اور ملا لیتے ہیں ، اور اضافہ کر لیتے ہیں ۔‘‘ رواہ مسلم ۔
Ibn Abbas بیان karte hain, Nabi ke Ansar Sahaba mein se ek Sahabi ne mujhe bayan kiya ke is asna mein ke ek raat hum Rasul Allah ke sath baithe hue the ke ek sitara toota aur roshan hua. Rasul Allah ne un se pucha: ''Jab daur e jahiliyat mein is tarah sitara tutta tha to tum kya kaha karte the?'' Unhon ne arz kiya, Allah aur uske Rasul hi behtar jante hain, taham ye kaha karte the is raat koi azeem aadmi paida hua hai ya koi azeem aadmi foot hua hai, Rasul Allah ne farmaya: ''Sitara na kisi ki maut par tutta hai aur na kisi ki hayat par, lekin jab hamara Rab, babarakt hai naam uska, koi faisla farmata hai to hameleen arsh tasbeeh bayan karte hain, baad azan un se kareeb aasman wale farishte subhan Allah kahte hain yahan tak ke tasbeeh ki ye aawaz aasman duniya ke farishton tak pahunch jati hai, phir woh farishte jo arsh ko uthane wale farishton ke kareeb hote hain woh hameleen e arsh se kahte hain, tumhare Rab ne kya kaha hai? To woh unhen batate hain jo Allah Ta'ala ne kaha hota hai, aasman wale ek dusre se puchte hain, hatta ke khabar aasman duniya tak pahunch jati hai chunancha shayateen is baat ko achk lete hain, aur woh apne sathiyon ko ilqa kar dete hain, aur isi dauran unhen angarey maare jate hain, jo khabar woh asl shakal mein ilqa kar dete hain woh to haq aur durust hoti hai, lekin woh is mein aur mila lete hain, aur izafa kar lete hain.'' Riwayat Muslim.
وَعَن ابنِ عبَّاسٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: أَنَّهُمْ بَيْنَا جُلُوسٌ لَيْلَةً مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُمِيَ بِنَجْمٍ وَاسْتَنَارَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا كُنْتُمْ تَقُولُونَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ إِذَا رُمِيَ بِمِثْلِ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ كُنَّا نَقُولُ: وُلِدَ اللَّيْلَةَ رَجُلٌ عَظِيمٌ وَمَاتَ رَجُلٌ عَظِيمٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: فَإِنَّهَا لَا يُرْمَى بِهَا لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ رَبَّنَا تَبَارَكَ اسْمُهُ إِذَا قَضَى أَمر سَبَّحَ حَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ ثُمَّ سَبَّحَ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ التَّسْبِيحُ أَهْلَ هَذِهِ السَّمَاء الدُّنْيَا ثمَّ قَالَ الَّذِي يَلُونَ حَمَلَةَ الْعَرْشِ لِحَمَلَةِ الْعَرْشِ: مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ؟ فَيُخْبِرُونَهُمْ مَا قَالَ: فَيَسْتَخْبِرُ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ بَعْضًا حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ هَذِهِ السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا فَيَخْطَفُ الْجِنُّ السَّمْعَ فَيَقْذِفُونَ إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ وَيُرْمَوْنَ فَمَا جاؤوا بِهِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَهُوَ حَقٌّ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يَقْرِفُونَ فِيهِ وَيزِيدُونَ . رَوَاهُ مُسلم
