Ibn Abbas narrated: One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said, “The nations were presented before me. A Prophet passed by me, and with him was one man. Another Prophet passed by, and with him were two men. Yet another Prophet passed by, and with him were a few men. Some Prophets passed by with no one with them. Then I saw a large multitude of people that spread as far as the eye could see. I hoped that they were my Ummah (nation), but I was told, ‘This is Musa (Moses) and his people.’ Then I was told, ‘Look!’ So I looked, and I saw a huge multitude of people that spread as far as the eye could see. I was told, ‘Look to your right and your left.’ I saw another huge multitude that spread as far as the eye could see. I was told, ‘This is your Ummah, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being held to account.’ They are those who did not seek Ruqya (incantation or charm for healing), nor did they believe in bad omens, nor did they get themselves branded with fire (cauterization). They put their trust only in their Lord.” Upon hearing this, Ukkashah bin Muhsin stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “O Allah, make him one of them.” Then another man stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them too.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Ukkashah has preceded you in this.” (Agreed upon)

ابن عباس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، ایک روز رسول اللہ ﷺ تشریف لائے تو فرمایا :’’ مجھ پر امتیں پیش کی گئیں ، چنانچہ ایک نبی گزرے ان کے ساتھ ایک آدمی تھا ، ایک اور نبی تھے اور ان کے ساتھ دو آدمی تھے ، اور ایک اور نبی تھے ان کے ساتھ چند آدمی تھے ، جبکہ کسی نبی کے ساتھ کوئی ایک بھی نہیں تھا ، میں نے ایک بڑا گروہ دیکھا جو افق تک پھیلا ہوا تھا ، میں نے امید کی کہ یہ میری امت ہو گی لیکن مجھے بتایا گیا کہ یہ موسیٰ ؑ اپنی قوم کے ساتھ ہیں ، پھر مجھے کہا گیا ، دیکھو ، میں نے بہت بڑا گروہ دیکھا جو افق تک پھیلا ہوا تھا ، مجھے کہا گیا : اس طرف (دائیں ، بائیں) دیکھو ، میں نے بہت بڑا گروہ دیکھا جو افق پر پھیلا ہوا تھا ، مجھے بتایا گیا کہ یہ آپ کی امت ، اور ان کے ساتھ ان کے آگے ستر ہزار ہیں جو حساب کے بغیر جنت میں جائیں گے ، یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو کہ بدشگونی لیتے تھے نہ دم جھاڑ کراتے تھے اور نہ ہی داغتے تھے اور وہ صرف اپنے رب پر توکل کرتے تھے ۔‘‘ اتنے میں عکاشہ بن محصن ؓ نے کھڑے ہو کر عرض کیا ، اللہ سے دعا فرمائیں کہ وہ مجھے ان میں شامل فرمائے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اے اللہ ! اس کو ان میں سے کر دے ۔‘‘ پھر ایک اور آدمی کھڑا ہوا اور اس نے عرض کیا ، اللہ سے دعا فرمائیں کہ وہ مجھے بھی ان میں کر دے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اس میں عکاشہ تجھ سے سبقت لے گیا ہے ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Ibn Abbas bayan karte hain, ek roz Rasul Allah tashreef laaye to farmaya: “Mujh par ummaten pesh ki gayin, chunancha ek nabi guzre un ke sath ek aadmi tha, ek aur nabi the aur un ke sath do aadmi the, aur ek aur nabi the un ke sath chand aadmi the, jab ke kisi nabi ke sath koi ek bhi nahin tha, maine ek bada giroh dekha jo ufq tak phela hua tha, maine umeed ki ke yeh meri ummat ho gi lekin mujhe bataya gaya ke yeh Moosa apni qaum ke sath hain, phir mujhe kaha gaya, dekho, maine bahut bada giroh dekha jo ufq tak phela hua tha, mujhe kaha gaya: Is taraf (dayen, baayen) dekho, maine bahut bada giroh dekha jo ufq par phela hua tha, mujhe bataya gaya ke yeh aap ki ummat, aur un ke sath un ke aage sattar hazaar hain jo hisab ke baghair jannat mein jayenge, yeh wo log hain jo ke badshaguni lete the na dum jhaarte the aur na hi daagte the aur wo sirf apne Rab par tawakkal karte the.” Itne mein Ukasha bin Mohsin kharde ho kar arz kiya, Allah se dua farmaen ke wo mujhe un mein shamil farmaen, aap ne farmaya: “Aye Allah! Is ko un mein se kar de.” Phir ek aur aadmi khara hua aur us ne arz kiya, Allah se dua farmaen ke wo mujhe bhi un mein kar de, aap ne farmaya: “Is mein Ukasha tum se sabqat le gaya hai.” Muttafiq alaih.
وَعَنْهُ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ: عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأُمَمُ فَجَعَلَ يَمُرُّ النَّبِيُّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّجُلُ وَالنَّبِيُّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّجُلَانِ وَالنَّبِيُّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّهْطُ وَالنَّبِيُّ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُ أَحَدٌ فَرَأَيْتُ سَوَادًا كَثِيرًا سَدَّ الْأُفُقَ فَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أُمَّتِي فَقِيلَ هَذَا مُوسَى فِي قَوْمِهِ ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِي انْظُرْ فَرَأَيْتُ سَوَادًا كَثِيرًا سَدَّ الْأُفُقَ فَقِيلَ لِي انْظُرْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا فَرَأَيْتُ سَوَادًا كَثِيرًا سَدَّ الْأُفق فَقيل: هَؤُلَاءِ أُمَّتُكَ وَمَعَ هَؤُلَاءِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا قُدَّامَهُمْ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ هُمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ ولايسترقون وَلَا يَكْتَوُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ. قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» . ثُمَّ قَامَ رجل فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ. فَقَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ. مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ
