Mishkat al-Masabih 5357
Abu Burda bin Abu Musa narrated, Abdullah bin Umar (RA) said to me: "Do you know what my father said to your father?" I said: "I do not know." He said: "My father said to your father: 'O Abu Musa, would it please you that our Islam during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), our Hijrah with you, our Jihad with you, and all the deeds that we did with you, remain established for us, and we are equal in whatever we did after him (ﷺ) (neither reward nor sin)?' So your father said to my father: 'No, by Allah! We fought Jihad after the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), offered prayers, observed fasts, did many good deeds, and many people embraced Islam at our hands, and we hope for reward for these deeds.' My father said: 'But I, by the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Umar, would prefer that those deeds (that we did with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)) remain established for us, and as for all the deeds that we did after him (ﷺ), that we are saved from them equally." I (Abu Burda) said: "No doubt your father (Umar (RA)), by Allah, was better than my father." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

ابوبردہ بن ابو موسیٰ بیان کرتے ہیں ، عبداللہ بن عمر ؓ نے مجھے فرمایا : کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ میرے والد نے آپ کے والد سے کیا فرمایا تھا ؟ انہوں نے کہا : مجھے علم نہیں ، انہوں نے فرمایا : میرے والد نے آپ کے والد سے کہا : ابوموسیٰ کیا یہ بات تمہیں خوش کرتی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کی معیت میں ہمارا اسلام ، آپ کی معیت میں ہماری ہجرت اور آپ کی معیت میں ہمارا جہاد اور آپ کے ساتھ ہم نے جو بھی عمل کیے وہ ہمارے لیے ثابت و برقرار رہیں ، اور ہم نے آپ ﷺ کے بعد جو عمل کیے ہیں ، ہم ان میں برابر برابر (گناہ نہ ثواب) رہ جائیں ؟ اس پر آپ کے والد نے میرے والد سے کہا : نہیں ، اللہ کی قسم ! ہم نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے بعد جہاد کیا ، نمازیں پڑھیں ، روزے رکھے ، بہت سے نیک کام کیے اور بہت سے لوگوں نے ہمارے ہاتھوں پر اسلام قبول کیا ، اور ہم ان کاموں کے ثواب کی امید رکھتے ہیں ، میرے والد نے کہا : لیکن میں ، اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں عمر ؓ کی جان ہے ! یہ پسند کرتا ہوں کہ وہ اعمال (جو ہم نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ کیے) ہمارے لیے ثابت رہیں ، اور وہ تمام اعمال جو ہم نے آپ ﷺ کے بعد کیے ، ان میں ہم برابر برابر نجات پا جائیں ، میں (ابوبردہ) نے کہا : بے شک آپ کے والد (عمر ؓ) ، اللہ کی قسم ! میرے والد سے بہتر تھے ۔ رواہ البخاری ۔
AbuBurda bin Abu Musa bayan karte hain, Abdullah bin Umar ne mujhe farmaya: kya tum jante ho ke mere walid ne aap ke walid se kya farmaya tha? Unhon ne kaha: mujhe ilm nahin, unhon ne farmaya: mere walid ne aap ke walid se kaha: Abu Musa kya yeh baat tumhen khush karti hai ke Rasul Allah ki ma'iyat mein hamara Islam, aap ki ma'iyat mein hamari hijrat aur aap ki ma'iyat mein hamara jihad aur aap ke sath hum ne jo bhi amal kiye woh hamare liye sabit o barqarar rahen, aur hum ne aap ke baad jo amal kiye hain, hum un mein barabar barabar (gunah na sawab) reh jayen? Is par aap ke walid ne mere walid se kaha: nahin, Allah ki qasam! Hum ne Rasul Allah ke baad jihad kiya, namazen parhin, roze rakhe, bahut se nek kaam kiye aur bahut se logon ne hamare hathon par Islam qubool kiya, aur hum in kaamon ke sawab ki umeed rakhte hain, mere walid ne kaha: lekin main, is zaat ki qasam jis ke hath mein Umar ki jaan hai! Yeh pasand karta hun ke woh amal (jo hum ne Rasul Allah ke sath kiye) hamare liye sabit rahen, aur woh tamam amal jo hum ne aap ke baad kiye, un mein hum barabar barabar nijaat pa jayen, main (AbuBurda) ne kaha: be shak aap ke walid (Umar), Allah ki qasam! وَعَنْ\أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ: قَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا قَالَ أَبِي لِأَبِيكَ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا. قَالَ: فَإِنَّ أَبِي قَالَ لِأَبِيكَ يَا أَبَا مُوسَى هَلْ يَسُرُّكَ أَنَّ إِسْلَامَنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِجْرَتَنَا مَعَهُ وَجِهَادَنَا مَعَهُ وَعَمَلَنَا كُلَّهُ مَعَهُ بَرَدَ لَنَا؟ وَأَنَّ كُلَّ عَمَلٍ عَمِلْنَاهُ بَعْدَهُ نَجَوْنَا مِنْهُ كَفَافًا رَأْسًا بِرَأْسٍ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُوكَ لِأَبِي: لَا وَاللَّهِ قَدْ جَاهَدْنَا بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَلَّيْنَا وَصُمْنَا وَعَمِلْنَا خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا. وَأَسْلَمَ عَلَى أَيْدِينَا بَشَرٌ كَثِيرٌ وَإِنَّا لَنَرْجُو ذَلِكَ. قَالَ أَبِي: وَلَكِنِّي أَنَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ عُمَرَ بِيَدِهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ بَرَدَ لَنَا وَأَنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَمِلْنَاهُ بَعْدَهُ نَجَوْنَا مِنْهُ كَفَافًا رَأْسًا بِرَأْسٍ. فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ أَبَاكَ وَاللَّهِ كَانَ خيرا من أبي. رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ\
