Description of the virtues of Hazrat Umar (RA)
بيان مناقب حضرة عمر رضي الله عنه

Narrated Anas and Ibn 'Umar: 'Umar said, "I agreed with my Lord (i.e., my suggestion was confirmed by the Divine Revelation) in three matters. I said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Would that you take the Station of Abraham as a place of prayer.' So the Verse...'Take you (people) the Station of Abraham as a place of prayer (for some of your prayers)' (2:125) was revealed. I said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Good and bad persons enter upon your wives, so order your wives to observe veils.' So the Verse of the Hijab was revealed. (On one occasion) the wives of the Prophet talked with each other on the subject of the Pledges of allegiance at Al-Hudaibiya, whereupon I said, 'It may be that if he (the Prophet) divorced you, his Lord (i.e., Allah) will give him in exchange wives better than you.' So this Verse (of the option of divorce was revealed)." (Sahih al-Bukhari).

انس اور ابن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ عمر ؓ نے فرمایا : میں نے تین امور میں اپنے رب سے موافقت کی ، میں نے عرض کیا ، اللہ کے رسول ! اگر ہم مقام ابراہیم کو جائے نماز بنا لیں ؟ اللہ نے یہ آیت نازل فرما دی :’’ مقام ابراہیم کو جائے نماز بناؤ ۔‘‘ میں نے عرض کیا ، اللہ کے رسول ! آپ کی ازواج مطہرات کے پاس نیک و فاسق قسم کے لوگ آتے ہیں ، اگر آپ انہیں پردہ کرنے کا حکم فرما دیں ، تب اللہ نے آیت حجاب نازل فرمائی ، اور (ایک موقع پر) نبی ﷺ کی ازواج مطہرات قصہ غیرت (شہد پینے والے واقعہ) پر اکٹھی ہو گئیں ، تو میں نے کہا :’’ قریب ہے کہ اس کا رب ، اگر وہ تمہیں طلاق دے دیں ، تم سے بہتر بیویاں انہیں عطا فرما دے ۔‘‘ اسی طرح آیت نازل ہو گئی ۔ رواہ البخاری ۔
Anas aur Ibn Umar (RA) se riwayat hai ki Umar (RA) ne farmaya: main ne teen umoor mein apne Rab se muwafqat ki, main ne arz kiya, Allah ke Rasul! Agar hum maqam Ibrahim ko jaye namaz bana len? Allah ne yeh ayat nazil farma di: ''Maqam Ibrahim ko jaye namaz banao.'' Main ne arz kiya, Allah ke Rasul! Aap ki azwaj mutahirat ke paas nek o fasiq qisam ke log aate hain, agar aap unhen parda karne ka hukum farma den, tab Allah ne ayat hijab nazil farmaai, aur (ek mauqa par) Nabi (SAW) ki azwaj mutahirat qissa ghirat (sharab peene wale waqea) par ikhatti ho gayin, to main ne kaha: ''Qareeb hai ki is ka Rab, agar wo tumhen talaq de den, tum se behtar biwiyan unhen ata farma de.'' Isi tarah ayat nazil ho gayi. Riwayat Bukhari.
عَن أنس وَابْن عمر أَن عمر قَالَ: وَافَقْتُ رَبِّي فِي ثَلَاثٍ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوِ اتَّخَذْنَا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى؟ فَنَزَلَتْ [وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى] . وَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى نِسَائِكَ الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ فَلَوْ أَمَرْتَهُنَّ يَحْتَجِبْنَ؟ فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْحِجَابِ وَاجْتَمَعَ نِسَاءُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْغَيْرَةِ فَقُلْتُ [عَسَى رَبُّهُ إِنْ طلَّقكنَّ أَن يُبدلهُ أَزْوَاجًا خيرا منكنَّ] فَنزلت كَذَلِك
