It is narrated on the authority of Amir Ibn Rabi'a (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet ( صلى ہللا عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘whenever you see a funeral procession, stand up for that until it moves away or is lowered on the ground.
حضرت عامر بن ربیعہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم جنازہ دیکھو تو اس کی خاطر کھڑے ہو جاؤ، حتیٰ کہ وہ تمہیں پیچھے چھوڑجائے یا اسے (گردنوں سے اتار) رکھ دیا جائے۔“
Hazrat Amir bin Rabia (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Jab tum janaza dekho to is ki khatir khare ho jao, hatta ke wo tumhein peeche chhor jaye ya ise (gardonon se utar) rakh diya jaye."

It is reported on the authority of Ibn Juraij that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘should anyone amongst you see a bier he must stand up so long as it is within sight in case he does not intend to follow it.
امام صاحب مزید کئی اساتذہ کی اسانید سے لیث بن سعد کے ہم معنی روایت بیان کرتے ہیں۔ ابن جریج کی حدیث یہ ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی جنازہ دیکھے۔ تو وہ اسے دیکھتے ہی کھڑا ہو جائے، حتیٰ کہ وہ اسے پیچھے چھوڑ جائے، جبکہ وہ اس کے ساتھ نہ جا سکتا ہو۔“
Imam sahab mazeed kai asatiza ki asaneed se Laith bin Saad ke hum-maani riwayat bayan karte hain. Ibn Jurayj ki hadees ye hai ke Nabi Akram (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Jab tum mein se koi janaza dekhe. To wo ise dekhte hi khara ho jaye, hatta ke wo ise peeche chhor jaye, jabke wo is ke saath na ja sakta ho."
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet ( صلى ہللاعليه و آله وسلم) said, when you follow a bier, do not sit until it is placed on the (ground).
حضرت ابوسعید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم کسی جنازہ کے ساتھ جاؤ، تو اس وقت تک نہ بیٹھو، جب تک اسے (زمین پر) رکھ نہ دیا جائے۔“
Hazrat Abu Saeed (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Jab tum kisi janaza ke saath jao, to is waqt tak na baitho, jab tak ise (zameen par) rakh na diya jaye."
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِذَا اتَّبَعْتُمْ جَنَازَةً فَلاَ تَجْلِسُوا حَتَّى تُوضَعَ " .
Sahih Muslim 959b
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:Whenever you come across a bier you should stand up, and he who follows it should not sit down till it is placed on the ground.
حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم جنازہ کو دیکھوتو کھڑے ہو جاؤ، اور جو جنازہ کے ساتھ جائے وہ اس کے رکھنے تک نہ بیٹھنے۔“
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Jab tum janaza ko dekho to khare ho jao, aur jo janaza ke saath jaye wo is ke rakhne tak na baithe."
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir Ibn Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that there passed a bier and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up for it and we also stood up along with him. We said, ‘Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), that was the bier of a Jew woman. Upon this he remarked, ‘verily, death is a matter of consternation, so whenever you come across a bier stand up.
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، کہ ایک جنازہ گزرا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے لئے کھڑے ہوگئے اور ہم بھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ کھڑے ہوگئے پھر ہم نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! یہ تو ایک یہودن ہے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”موت دہشت ناک ہے یا گھبراہٹ کا باعث ہے اس لیے جب جنازہ کو دیکھو تو کھڑے ہوجاؤ۔“
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) se riwayat hai, ke ek janaza guzra to Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is ke liye khare hogaye aur hum bhi Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke saath khare hogaye phir hum ne arz kiya: Ay Allah ke Rasool (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)! ye to ek Yahoodan hai to Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Maut dehsat-nak hai ya ghabrahat ka bais hai is liye jab janaza ko dekho to khare hojayo."
Ibn Juraij narrated that Abu Zubair heard Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) say that the Prophet ( صلى ہللا عليهو آله وسلم) kept standing for a bier until it disappeared.
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک جنازہ کے لیے جو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس سے گزرا کھڑے ہو گئے، حتیٰ کہ وہ نظروں سے اوجھل ہو گیا۔
Hazrat Jabir (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ek janaza ke liye jo Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke paas se guzra khare ho gaye, hatta ke wo nazron se ojhal ho gaya.
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِجَنَازَةٍ مَرَّتْ بِهِ حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ .
Sahih Muslim 960c
It is narrated that Abu Zubair heard Jabir say that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and his companions kept standing for a bier of a Jew until it disappeared from sight.
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور آپ کے ساتھی ایک یہودی کے جنازہ کی خاطر کھڑے ہوگئے حتیٰ کہ وہ نظروں سے اوجھل ہوگیا۔
Hazrat Jabir (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) bayan karte hain ke Nabi Akram (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) aur Aap ke sathiyo ek Yahoodi ke janaza ki khatir khare hogaye hatta ke wo nazron se ojhal hogaya.
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَيْضًا أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَصْحَابُهُ لِجَنَازَةِ يَهُودِيٍّ حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ .
Sahih Muslim 961a, 961b
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abu Laila that while Qais bin Sa'd and Sahl bin Hunaif (رضي الله تعالی عنہما) were both in Qadisiyya a bier passed by them and they both stood up. They were told that it was the bier of one of the people of the land (non-Muslim). They said that a bier passed before the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and he stood up. He was told that he (the dead man) was a Jew. Upon this he remarked, ‘was he not a human being or did he not have a soul? And in the Hadith narrated by Amr bin Murra with the same chain of transmitters, (the words) are, ‘there passed a bier before us’.
ابن ابی لیلیٰ سے روایت ہے: کہ حضرت قیس بن سعد اور سہل بن حنیف رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ قادسیہ مقام پر تھے کہ ان کے پاس سے ایک جنازہ گزرا تو وہ دونوں کھڑے ہوگئے انہیں بتایا گیا کہ کہ وہ اس زمین کا (کافر) باشندہ تو ان دونوں نے جواب دیا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس سے ایک جنازہ گزرا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہو گئے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتایا گیا: یہ یہودی ہے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا وہ ذی روح (جاندار) نہیں ہے؟“
Ibn Abi Laila se riwayat hai: ke Hazrat Qais bin Saad aur Sahl bin Hunaif (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) Qadisiya maqam par thay ke un ke paas se ek janaza guzra to wo donon khare hogaye inhein bataya gaya ke wo is zameen ka (kaafir) bashinda to un donon ne jawab diya: Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke paas se ek janaza guzra to Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) khare ho gaye, Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ko bataya gaya: ye Yahoodi hai to Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne farmaya: "Kya wo zi-rooh (jaandaar) nahi hai?"
