Chapter: Tribulation From The East, From Where The Horns Of The Shaitan Appear

باب الْفِتْنَةِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنَا الشَّيْطَانِ

Sahih Muslim 2905a

Ibn Umar (رضئ ِهللا تعالی عنہ) reported that he heard Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying (in a state) that he had turned his face towards the east, behold, turmoil would appear from this side, from where the horns of Satan would appear.

حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ سنا، جبکہ آپ کا رخ (مدینہ سے)مشرق کی طرف تھا:"خبردار!یقیناً فتنہ کی سر زمین ادھر ہے خبردار، فتنہ ادھر ہے، جہاں سے شیطان کا سینگ طلوع ہوتا ہے۔

Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke unhon ne Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se yeh suna, jab ke aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka rukh (Madina se) mashriq ki taraf tha:"Khabardar! Yaqeenan fitna ki sar zameen udhar hai khabardar, fitna udhar hai, jahan se shaitan ka seeng tulu hota hai.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلُ الْمَشْرِقِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ أَلاَ إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا أَلاَ إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Ibn `Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood by the door (of the apartment of) Hafsa and, pointing towards the east, he said:The turmoil would appear from this side, viz. where the horns of Satan would appear, and he uttered these words twice or thrice and `Ubaidullah b. Sa`id in his narration said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had been standing by the door of `A'isha.

حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم حضرت حفصہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے دروازہ پر کھڑے ہوئے اور اپنے ہاتھ سے مشرق کی طرف اشارہ کر کے فرمایا:"فتنہ ادھر ہے، جہاں سے شیطان کا سینگ طلوع ہوتا ہے۔"یہ بات آپ نے دو یا تین دفعہ فرمائی اور عبد اللہ بن سعید کی روایت میں ہے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے دروازے پر کھڑے ہوئے(دونوں گھروں کی جہت ایک ہی ہے)

Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Hazrat Hafsa (Radiallahu Anha) ke darwaze par khade hue aur apne hath se mashriq ki taraf ishara kar ke farmaya:"Fitna udhar hai, jahan se shaitan ka seeng tulu hota hai." Yeh baat aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne do ya teen dafa farmayi aur Abdullah bin Saeed ki riwayat mein hai Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Ayesha (Radiallahu Anha) ke darwaze par khade hue (donon gharon ki jihat ek hi hai).

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ، سَعِيدٍ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ، قَالَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ، عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَامَ عِنْدَ بَابِ حَفْصَةَ فَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ ‏ "‏ الْفِتْنَةُ هَا هُنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلاَثًا ‏.‏ وَقَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عِنْدَ بَابِ عَائِشَةَ ‏.‏

Salim bin Abdullah reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle (صلى ِالله عليه و آله وسلم), while turning his face towards the east, said, the turmoil would appear from this side; verily, the turmoil would appear from this side; verily, the turmoil would appear from this side, the side where appear the horns of Satan.

حضرت سالم بن عبد اللہ رحمۃ اللہ علیہ اپنے باپ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مشرق کی طرف منہ کر کے فرمایا:"خبردار!فتنہ ادھر ہے، خبردار!فتنہ ادھر ہے، خبردار!فتنہ ادھر ہے، جہاں سے شیطان کا سینگ طلوع ہوتا ہے۔"

Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah (Rahmatullah Alaih) apne baap se riwayat karte hain ke Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne mashriq ki taraf munh kar ke farmaya:"Khabardar! Fitna udhar hai, khabardar! Fitna udhar hai, khabardar! Fitna udhar hai, jahan se shaitan ka seeng tulu hota hai.".

وَحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ وَهُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلُ الْمَشْرِقِ ‏ "‏ هَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا هَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا هَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sahih Muslim 2905d

Ibn Umar reported that Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) came out from the house of Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) and said, it would be from this side that there would appear the height of unbelief, where appear the horns of Satan, i.e., the east.

حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں،کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے گھر سے نکلے اور فرمایا:" کفر کی چوٹی،ادھر ہے جہاں سے شیطان نمودار ہوتا ہے۔"یعنی مشرق سے۔

Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) bayan karte hain, ke Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Hazrat Ayesha (Radiallahu Anha) ke ghar se nikle aur farmaya:" Kufr ki choti, udhar hai jahan se shaitan namudar hota hai." Yaani mashriq se.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ بَيْتِ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ رَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ مِنْ هَا هُنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ يَعْنِي الْمَشْرِقَ ‏.‏

Ibn Umar reported, I heard Allah's Apostle (صلى هللا عليه ِو آله وسلم) as saying while pointing his hands towards the east, the turmoil would appear from this side; verily, the turmoil would appear from this side (he repeated it thrice) where appear the horns of Satan.

حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں،کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا،آپ اپنے ہاتھ سے مشرق کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہوئے فر رہے تھے۔" خبردار!فتنہ ادھر ہے، خبردار!فتنہ ادھر ہے،"تین بار فرمایا:" جہاں سے شیطان کے دو سینگ نمو دار ہوتے ہیں۔"

Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) bayan karte hain, ke Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se suna, aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) apne hath se mashriq ki taraf ishara karte hue farma rahe the. "Khabardar! Fitna udhar hai, khabardar! Fitna udhar hai," teen bar farmaya: "Jahan se shaitan ke do seeng namudar hote hain.".

وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ - أَخْبَرَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمًا، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَيَقُولُ ‏"‏ هَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا هَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثَلاَثًا ‏"‏ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنَا الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Ibn Fudail reported on the authority of his father that he heard Salim b. `Abdullah b. `Umar as saying:O people of Iraq, how strange it is that you ask about the minor sins but commit major sins? I heard from my father `Abdullah b. `Umar, narrating that he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying while pointing his hand towards the east: Verily, the turmoil would come from this side, from where appear the horns of Satan and you would strike the necks of one another; and Moses killed a person from among the people of Pharaoh unintentionally and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: "You killed a person but We relieved you from the grief and tried you with (many a) trial" (xx. 40). Ahmad b. `Umar reported this hadith from Salim, but he did not make a mention of the words: "I heard".

فضیل رحمۃ اللہ علیہ بیان کرتے ہیں میں نے سالم بن عبد اللہ بن عمر کو یہ فرماتے ہوئےسنا:"اے اہل عراق (تم کسی قدرزیرہ چھانتے ہو اور اونٹ نگلتے ہو) تم چھوٹے گناہوں کو کریدتے ہو اور بڑے گناہوں کا ارتکاب کرتے ہو میں نے اپنے باپ عبد اللہ بن عمر کو یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے سنا:"فتنہ ادھر سےآئےگا۔"آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے مشرق کی طرف اشارہ کیا۔" جہاں سے شیطان کے دو سینگ نمو دار ہوتے ہیں۔" اور تم ایک دوسرے کی گردنیں اڑاتے ہو اور موسیٰ ؑ نے تو بس ایک فرعونی کو چوک کر قتل کیا تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کو مخاطب کر کے فرمایا:"اور تونے ایک نفس کو قتل کیا تو ہم نے تجھے اس غم سے نجات دی اور ہم نے تجھے مختلف آزمائشوں سے گزارا۔"(طہ آیت نمبر40۔)احمد بن عمر کی روایت میں سالم نے سمعت نہیں کہا۔

Fuzail (Rahmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain main ne Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) ko yeh farmate hue suna:"Aye ahle Iraq (tum kisi qadar zeera chhanate ho aur oont nigalte ho) tum chhote gunahon ko kareedte ho aur bade gunahon ka irtikab karte ho main ne apne baap Abdullah bin Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) ko yeh kehte hue suna, main ne Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko yeh farmate suna:"Fitna udhar se aayega." Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne apne hath se mashriq ki taraf ishara kiya. "Jahan se shaitan ke do seeng namudar hote hain." Aur tum ek dusre ki gardanein udate ho aur Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne to bas ek Fir'auni ko chauk kar qatal kiya to Allah Ta'ala ne un ko mukhatab kar ke farmaya:"Aur tu ne ek nafs ko qatal kiya to hum ne tujhe is gham se najaat di aur hum ne tujhe mukhtalif azmaishon se guzara." (Taha Ayat number 40.) Ahmad bin Umar ki riwayat mein Salim ne sami'tu nahi kaha.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، وَوَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْوَكِيعِيُّ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لاِبْنِ أَبَانَ - قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، بْنِ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ مَا أَسْأَلَكُمْ عَنِ الصَّغِيرَةِ وَأَرْكَبَكُمْ لِلْكَبِيرَةِ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏ إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ تَجِيءُ مِنْ هَا هُنَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَأَوْمَأَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ ‏"‏ مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنَا الشَّيْطَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَأَنْتُمْ يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ وَإِنَّمَا قَتَلَ مُوسَى الَّذِي قَتَلَ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ خَطَأً فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ ‏{‏ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُونًا‏}‏ قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ عَنْ سَالِمٍ لَمْ يَقُلْ سَمِعْتُ ‏.‏
