باب الْكَشْفِ عَنْ مَعَايِبِ، رُوَاةِ الْحَدِيثِ وَنَقَلَةِ الأَخْبَارِ وَقَوْلِ الأَئِمَّةِ فِي ذَلِكَ
Sahih Muslim Introduction 84
Amr bin Alī and Hasan al-Hulwānī narrated to me, both of them on authority of Affān bin Muslim, he said:‘We were near Ismā’īl bin Ulayyah, and a man narrated on authority of another man, so I said: ‘Indeed this is not reliable (Thabt)’. So the man said: ‘Are you backbiting him?’ Ismā’īl said: ‘He is not backbiting him; rather he is judging him unreliable’.
عفان بن مسلمؒ کہتے ہیں: ہم اسماعیل بن علیہؒ کی مجلس میں حاضر تھے، کہ ایک شخص نے دوسرے شخص سے حدیث بیان کی تو میں نے کہا یہ تو ثقہ اور قابلِ اعتماد نہیں ہے۔ اس نے کہا: تم نے اس کی غیبت کی ہے۔ اسماعیلؒ نے کہا: ”اس نے غیبت نہیں کی، لیکن حقیقت بتائی ہے کہ وہ ثقہ نہیں ہے (اور راوی کی اصلیت ظاہر کرنا غیبت نہیں ہے)۔“
Affan bin Muslim (Rahmatullahi Alaih) kehte hain: Hum Ismail bin Alayya (Rahmatullahi Alaih) ki majlis mein hazir thay, ke ek shakhs ne doosre shakhs se hadith bayan ki to main ne kaha yeh to thiqa aur qabil-e-itimad nahi hai. Is ne kaha: Tum ne is ki gheebat ki hai. Ismail (Rahmatullahi Alaih) ne kaha: "Is ne gheebat nahi ki, lekin haqiqat batayi hai ke woh thiqa nahi hai (aur rawi ki asliyat zahir karna gheebat nahi hai)."
حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَحَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ عَفَّانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ فَحَدَّثَ رَجُلٌ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَيْسَ بِثَبْتٍ . قَالَ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ اغْتَبْتَهُ . قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ مَا اغْتَابَهُ . وَلَكِنَّهُ حَكَمَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِثَبْتٍ .
