Chapter: The prohibition of striking one's checks, tearing one's garment and calling with the calls of Jahilliyyah

باب تَحْرِيمِ ضَرْبِ الْخُدُودِ وَشَقِّ الْجُيُوبِ وَالدُّعَاءِ بِدَعْوَى الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ
Sahih Muslim 104b
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Burda (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that Abu Musa ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) fell unconscious and his wife Umm Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) came there and wailed loudly. When he felt relief he said : Don't you know and narrated to her : Verily the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: I have no concern with one who shaved her hair, lamented loudly and tore (her clothes in grief).
عبدالرحمٰن بن یزیدؒ اور ابو بردہؒ بن ابی موسیٰ اشعری دونوں نے بتایا: کہ ابو موسیٰؓ پر غشی طاری ہو گئی اور ان کی بیوی ام عبد اللہ بلند آواز سے روتی ہوئی آئی۔ دونوں نے کہا: پھر انھیں ہوش آیا تو انھوں نے کیا کہا: تمھیں معلوم نہیں ہے وہ حدیث اسے بتایا کرتے تھے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں سر منڈانے والے، چلانے والے اور کپڑے پھاڑنے والے سے بیزار ہوں۔“
Abdur Rahman bin Yazid (Rahmatullahi Alaih) aur Abu Burda (Rahmatullahi Alaih) bin Abi Musa Ash'ari dono ne bataya: ke Abu Musa (Radhi Allahu Anhu) par ghashi tari ho gayi aur un ki biwi Umm Abdullah buland aawaz se roti hui aayi. Dono ne kaha: phir unhein hosh aaya to unhon ne kya kaha: tumhein maloom nahi hai woh hadith ise bataya karte thay ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Main sar mundane wale, chillane wale aur kapre pharne wale se bizar hoon."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عُمَيْسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا صَخْرَةَ، يَذْكُرُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، وَأَبِي، بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالاَ أُغْمِيَ عَلَى أَبِي مُوسَى وَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ تَصِيحُ بِرَنَّةٍ . قَالاَ ثُمَّ أَفَاقَ قَالَ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمِي - وَكَانَ يُحَدِّثُهَا - أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " أَنَا بَرِيءٌ مِمَّنْ حَلَقَ وَسَلَقَ وَخَرَقَ " .
