Sahih Muslim 1103a
Abu Huraira ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) forbade his companions from observing fast uninterruptedly. One of the Muslims said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), you yourself observe ‘continuous fasts, whereupon the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, who among you is like me? I spend night (in a state) that my Allah feeds me and provides me drink. When they (the companions did not agree in abandoning the uninterrupted fast, then the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) also observed this fast with them for a day, and then for a day. They then saw the new moon and he said, if the appearance of the new moon were delayed, I would have observed more (fasts) with you (and he did it) by way of warning them as they had not agreed to refrain (from observing continued fasts.)
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بلا افطار مسلسل روزے رکھنے سے منع فرمایا: تو ایک مسلمان آدمی نے پوچھا: اے اللہ کے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! آپ بھی تو وصال کرتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے کون میری مثل ہے؟ میں اس حال میں رات گزارتا ہوں کہ مجھے میرا رب کھلاتا پلاتا ہے تو جب لوگوں نے وصال پر اصرار کیا (لوگ وصال سے نہ رکے) تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے ساتھ ایک دن پھر دوسرے دن بلا افطار و سحری روزہ رکھا، پھر انھوں نے چاند دیکھ لیا۔ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اگر چاند لیٹ ہوتا تو میں تمھارے ساتھ اور وصال کرتا۔ گویا جب وہ وصال سے باز نہ آئے۔ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں بطور عبرت و سزا یہ فرمایا۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Raziallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne bila iftar musalsal rozey rakhne se mana farmaya: To ek Musalman aadmi ne poocha: Aye Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)! Aap bhi to wisal karte hain. Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Tum mein se kaun meri misl hai? Main is haal mein raat guzarta hun ke mujhe mera Rabb khilata pilata hai to jab logon ne wisal par israr kiya (log wisal se na ruke) to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne unke sath ek din phir doosrey din bila iftar-o-sehri roza rakha, phir unhon ne chand dekh liya. To aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: Agar chand late hota to main tumhare sath aur wisal karta. Goya jab woh wisal se baz na aaye. To aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne unhein ba-tor-e-ibrat-o-saza yeh farmaya.
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَإِنَّكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تُوَاصِلُ . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَأَيُّكُمْ مِثْلِي إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي " . فَلَمَّا أَبَوْا أَنْ يَنْتَهُوا عَنِ الْوِصَالِ وَاصَلَ بِهِمْ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ رَأَوُا الْهِلاَلَ فَقَالَ " لَوْ تَأَخَّرَ الْهِلاَلُ لَزِدْتُكُمْ " . كَالْمُنَكِّلِ لَهُمْ حِينَ أَبَوْا أَنْ يَنْتَهُوا .
