Chapter: Fasting on the day of Ashura'

باب صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ

This Hadith is narrated on the authority of Hisham with the same chain of transmitters, but he made no mention in the first part of the Hadith that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to observe fast, and said about the second part that he abandoned the (fast) of Ashura, and he who wished observed the fast and who wished otherwise abandoned it, and he did not hold it as the words of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as mentioned in the narration transmitted by Jarir.
امام صاحب اپنے دو اساتذہ سے ہشام ہی کی سند سے بیان کرتے ہیں لیکن اس حدیث کے آغاز میں یہ نہیں ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھی اس کا روزہ رکھتے تھے اور حدیث کے آخر میں عاشورہ کا روزہ چھوڑدیا تو جو چاہے روزہ رکھے اور جو چاہے چھوڑ دے، جریر کی طرح اس کو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا قول قرار نہیں دیا۔
Imam Sahab apney do asatiza se Hisham hi ki sanad se bayan karte hain lekin is hadith ke aaghaz mein yeh nahi hai ke Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) bhi iska roza rakhte the aur hadith ke aakhir mein Ashura ka roza chhod diya to jo chahe roza rakhe aur jo chahe chhod de, Jareer ki tarah usko Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ka qaul qarrar nahi diya.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِي أَوَّلِ الْحَدِيثِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصُومُهُ . وَقَالَ فِي آخِرِ الْحَدِيثِ وَتَرَكَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَمَنْ شَاءَ صَامَهُ وَمَنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ . وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْهُ مِنْ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَرِوَايَةِ جَرِيرٍ .
