Sahih Muslim 1137
Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, reported that he observed Eid along with Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله تعالی عنہ). He came (out in an open space) and prayed and (after) completing it, addressed the people and said, the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) has forbidden the observance of fast on these two days. One is the day of Fitr (at the end of your fasts), and the second one, the day when you eat (the meat) of your sacrifices.
ابن ازہر کے آزاد کردہ غلام ابو عبید رحمۃ اللہ علیہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے عید کی نماز حضرت عمر بن الخطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی اقتداء میں پڑھی وہ تشریف لائے نماز پڑھائی پھر نماز سے فارغ ہو کر لوگوں کو خطاب فرمایا اور کہا یہ دو دن وہ ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان میں روزہ رکھنے سے منع فرمایا ہے ایک وہ دن جو تمھارے روزے چھوڑنے کا دن ہے اور دوسرا وہ دن ہے جس میں تم اپنی قربانیوں کا گوشت کھاتے ہو۔
Ibn Azhar ke azad kardah ghulam Abu Ubaid (Rahmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain ke main ne Eid ki namaz Hazrat Umar bin al-Khattab (Raziallahu Anhu) ki iqtida mein padhi woh tashreef laye namaz padhai phir namaz se farigh ho kar logon ko khitab farmaya aur kaha yeh do din woh hain ke Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne un mein roza rakhne se mana farmaya hai ek woh din jo tumhare roze chhodne ka din hai aur doosra woh din hai jis mein tum apni qurbanion ka gosht khate ho.
وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَجَاءَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَيْنِ يَوْمَانِ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صِيَامِهِمَا يَوْمُ فِطْرِكُمْ مِنْ صِيَامِكُمْ وَالْآخَرُ يَوْمٌ تَأْكُلُونَ فِيهِ مِنْ نُسُكِكُمْ
