بَاب النَّهْيِ عَنْ صَوْمِ الدَّهْرِ لِمَنْ تَضَرَّرَ بِهِ أَوْ فَوَّتَ بِهِ حَقًّا أَوْ لَمْ يُفْطِرْ الْعِيدَيْنِ وَالتَّشْرِيقَ وَبَيَانِ تَفْضِيلِ صَوْمِ يَوْمٍ وَإِفْطَارِ يَوْمٍ

Sahih Muslim 1159d
Abdullah bin Amr bin al-'As (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said to me, recite the whole Quran during every month. I said, I find power (to recite it) in a shorter period. He said, then recite it in twenty nights. I said, I find power (to recite it in a shorter period even than this), whereupon he said, then recite it in seven (nights) and do not exceed beyond it.
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”قرآن مجید ہر ماہ ختم کرو۔ میں نے عرض کیا مجھ میں (اس سے زیادہ کی) قوت ہے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بیس رات میں پڑھ لیا کرو۔“ میں نے عرض کیا: مجھ میں قوت ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہر سات دن میں ختم کرو۔ اس پر اضافہ نہ کرنا۔“
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (Radiallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke mujhe Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Quran Majeed har mahine khatm karo." Maine arz kiya mujh mein (is se zyada ki) quwat hai. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Bees raat mein padh liya karo." Maine arz kiya: "Mujh mein quwat hai." Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Har saat din mein khatm karo. Is par izafa na karna."
حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّاءَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، مَوْلَى بَنِي زُهْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ - وَأَحْسِبُنِي قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، - عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، - رضى الله عنهما - قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اقْرَإِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ " . قَالَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً . قَالَ " فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً " . قَالَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً . قَالَ " فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ وَلاَ تَزِدْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " .
