Chapter: Clarifying that Sa'i between As-safa and Al-Marwah is a pillar of Hajj, without which Hajj is not valid

باب بَيَانِ أَنَّ السَّعْىَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ رُكْنٌ لاَ يَصِحُّ الْحَجُّ إِلاَّ بِهِ
Sahih Muslim 1277d
Urwa bin Zubair reported that he asked Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها), the rest of the Hadith is the same. And in this Hadith (these words are also found), ‘when they (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) asked Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about this, they said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), we felt reluctant to circumambulate between al-Safa' and al-Marwa. Then Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, revealed this verse – ۖ ِ َِّ َّللاْ وَ ةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرإِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَر ِفَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَو ٌَّ َ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيمًا فَإِنَّ َّللاَ بِهِمَا ۚ وَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ فَالاعْتَمَر [Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So, whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good, then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.] (Al-Baqara - 158). Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) said, Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) laid down this Sa'i between them as his Sunnah. So, it is not advisable for anyone to abandon this Sa'i.
عروہ بن زبیر ر حمۃ اللہ علیہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے دریافت کیا، آ گے مذکورہ بالا روایت ہے، جس میں یہ بھی ہے، انہوں نے (انصار کے ایک گروہ نے) عرض کیا، اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! ہم (جاہلیت کے دور کی وجہ سے) صفا اور مروہ کے درمیان طواف میں گناہ محسوس کرتے ہیں، اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت اتاری، صفا اور مروہ اللہ کے شعائر میں سے ہیں، تو جو بیت اللہ کا حج کرے یا عمرہ کرے تو اس پر کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ ان کا طواف کرے، حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے درمیان طواف کرنا مقرر کیا ہے، اس لیے کسی کے لیے ان کے طواف کو ترک کرنے کی گنجائش نہیں ہے۔
Urwah bin Zubair (Rahmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain ki mein ne Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) se daryaft kiya, aage mazkoora bala riwayat hai, jis mein ye bhi hai, unho ne (Ansar ke ek giroh ne) arz kiya, Ae Allah ke Rasool (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Hum (jahiliyat ke daur ki wajah se) Safa aur Marwah ke darmiyan tawaf mein gunah mehsoos karte hain, is par Allah Ta'ala ne ye ayat utari, Safa aur Marwah Allah ke sha'air mein se hain, to jo Baitullah ka Hajj kare ya Umrah kare to us par koi harj nahi hai ki un ka tawaf kare, Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) farmati hain ki Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne un ke darmiyan tawaf karna muqarrar kiya hai, is liye kisi ke liye un ke tawaf ko tark karne ki gunjaish nahi hai.
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ، شِهَابٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ . وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ فَلَمَّا سَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَحَرَّجُ أَنْ نَطُوفَ بِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا} قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ قَدْ سَنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الطَّوَافَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَلَيْسَ لأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَتْرُكَ الطَّوَافَ بِهِمَا.
