Chapter: Emphatic prohibition against stealing from the spoils of war (Ghulul)

باب غِلَظِ تَحْرِيمِ الْغُلُولِ
Sahih Muslim 1831a
Abu Huraira (رضئ للا تعالی عنہ) narrated that one day the Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم) stood among us (to deliver a sermon). He talked about the misappropriation of booty and declared it to be a serious matter and a grave sin. Then he said, I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a growling camel mounted on his neck, and should appeal to me for help saying, Apostle of Allah (صلى الل عليه و آله وسلم), help me.’ and I should say, I have no authority to help you; I already communicated to you. I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a bleating lamb mounted on his neck, and he should say to me, Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم), help me, and I should say, I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that one of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a Person crying loudly mounted on his neck, and he should say to me’ Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم), help me, and I should say, I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that any one of you should come on the Day of Judgment with fluttering clothes wrapped round his neck and he should say to me, Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم), help me, and I should say, I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a heap of gold and silver placed on his neck and he should say to me, Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم), help me. and I should say, I have no authority to help you; I already conveyed to you (the warning from the Almighty).
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ایک دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے درمیان خطاب کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے غنیمت میں خیانت کی سنگینی کا ذکر کیا اور اس معاملہ کو انتہائی سنگین قرار دیا، پھر فرمایا: ”میں تم میں سے کسی کو اس حالت میں نہ پاؤں کہ وہ قیامت کے دن آئے اور اس کی گردن پر اونٹ سوار ہو، جو بلبلا رہا ہو، وہ کہے، اے اللہ کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میری فریاد رسی کیجئے، تو میں جواب دوں گا، میرے اختیار میں تیرے لیے کچھ نہیں، میں تمہیں پیغام پہنچا چکا ہوں، میں تم میں سے کسی کو اس حالت میں نہ پاؤں، وہ قیامت کے دن اس حال میں آئے کہ اس کی گردن پر گھوڑا سوار ہو جو ہنہنا رہا ہو اور وہ کہے گا، اے اللہ کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میری مدد فرمائیے، تو میں کہوں گا، میرے بس میں تیرے لیے کچھ نہیں ہے، میں تمہیں پیغام پہنچا چکا ہوں، میں تم میں سے کسی کو اس حالت میں نہ پاؤں، وہ قیامت کے دن آئے اور اس کی گردن پر کوئی انسان ہو، وہ چلا رہا ہو، وہ کہے گا، یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میری مدد فرمائیے، میں کہوں گا، میں تیرے لیے کسی چیز کا مالک نہیں ہوں، میں تمہیں مسئلہ بتا چکا ہوں۔ میں تم میں سے کسی کو اس حالت میں نہ پاؤں، وہ قیامت کے دن آئے، اس کی گردن پر کپڑے لدے ہوں اور وہ بھی حرکت کر رہے ہوں، وہ کہے گا، یا رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میری مدد کیجئے، میں کہوں گا، میں تمہارے لیے کسی چیز کا مالک نہیں ہوں، میں تمہیں پیغام دے چکا ہوں، میں تم میں سے کسی کو اس حالت میں نہ پاؤں، کہ اس کی گردن پر سونا چاندی لدا ہو، وہ کہے گا، یا رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میری مدد فرمائیں، میں کہوں گا، میں تمہیں آگاہ کر چکا ہوں۔“
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Razi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain ke ek din Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) hamare darmiyan khitab ke liye khade hue, to Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne ghanimat mein khayanat ki sangeeni ka zikr kiya aur is mamla ko intehai sangeen qaraar diya, phir farmaya: "Main tum mein se kisi ko is halat mein na paoon ke woh Qayamat ke din aaye aur uski gardan par oont sawar ho, jo bilbila raha ho, woh kahe, Aye Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Meri faryad rasi kijiye, to main jawab doonga, mere ikhtiyar mein tere liye kuch nahi, main tumhe paigham pahuncha chuka hoon, main tum mein se kisi ko is halat mein na paoon, woh Qayamat ke din is haal mein aaye ke uski gardan par ghoda sawar ho jo hinhina raha ho aur woh kahega, Aye Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Meri madad farmaye, to main kahoonga, mere bas mein tere liye kuch nahi hai, main tumhe paigham pahuncha chuka hoon, main tum mein se kisi ko is halat mein na paoon, woh Qayamat ke din aaye aur uski gardan par koi insan ho, woh chilla raha ho, woh kahega, Ya Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) meri madad farmaye, main kahoonga, main tere liye kisi cheez ka malik nahi hoon, main tumhe masla bata chuka hoon. Main tum mein se kisi ko is halat mein na paoon, woh Qayamat ke din aaye, uski gardan par kapde lade hon aur woh bhi harkat kar rahe hon, woh kahega, Ya Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Meri madad kijiye, main kahoonga, main tumhare liye kisi cheez ka malik nahi hoon, main tumhe paigham de chuka hoon, main tum mein se kisi ko is halat mein na paoon, ke uski gardan par sona chandi lada ho, woh kahega, Ya Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Meri madad farmayein, main kahoonga, main tumhe aagah kar chuka hoon."
وَحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِي، زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَذَكَرَ الْغُلُولَ فَعَظَّمَهُ وَعَظَّمَ أَمْرَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ " لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ بَعِيرٌ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ فَرَسٌ لَهُ حَمْحَمَةٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ شَاةٌ لَهَا ثُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ نَفْسٌ لَهَا صِيَاحٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ رِقَاعٌ تَخْفِقُ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ صَامِتٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ " .
