Sahih Muslim 1919
It has been reported by Abdur Rahman bin Shamasa that Fuqaim al-Lakhmi said to Uqba bin Amir (رضئ للا تعالی عنہ), you frequent between these two targets, and you are an old man, so you will be finding it very hard. Uqba (رضئ للا تعالی عنہ) said, but for a thing I heard from the Prophet (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم), I would not strain myself. Harith (one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters) said, I asked Ibn Shamasa, what was that? He said that the Prophet (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم) said, who learnt archery and then gave it up is not from us. or he has been guilty of disobedience to Allah's Apostle (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم).
فقیم لخمی نے حضرت عقبہ بن عامر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے کہا، آپ ان دو نشانوں کے درمیان آتے جاتے ہیں اور آپ بوڑھے ہیں، آپ کے لیے یہ مشکل (مشقت کا) کام ہے، حضرت عقبہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ نے کہا، اگر میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ایک بات نہ سنی ہوتی تو میں یہ مشقت نہ جھیلتا، حارث کہتے ہیں، میں نے ابن شماسہ سے پوچھا، وہ کیا بات ہے؟ اس نے کہا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے تیر اندازہ سیکھنے کے بعد اسے چھوڑ دیا، وہ ہم میں سے نہیں ہے، یا فرمایا: "اس نے نافرمانی کی۔“
Fuqaim Lakhmi ne Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (Raziallahu Anhu) se kaha, Aap in do nishanon ke darmiyan aate jate hain aur Aap boodhe hain, Aap ke liye yeh mushkil (mashaqqat ka) kaam hai, Hazrat Uqbah (Raziallahu Anhu) ne kaha, agar main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se ek baat na suni hoti to main yeh mashaqqat na jheelta, Harith kehte hain, main ne Ibn Shammasah se poocha, woh kya baat hai? Us ne kaha, Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Jis ne teer andazi seekhne ke baad use chhod diya, woh hum mein se nahin hai, ya farmaya: "Us ne nafarmani ki."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحِ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شَمَاسَةَ، أَنَّ فُقَيْمًا اللَّخْمِيَّ، قَالَ لِعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ تَخْتَلِفُ بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْغَرَضَيْنِ وَأَنْتَ كَبِيرٌ يَشُقُّ عَلَيْكَ . قَالَ عُقْبَةُ لَوْلاَ كَلاَمٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ أُعَانِهِ . قَالَ الْحَارِثُ فَقُلْتُ لاِبْنِ شُمَاسَةَ وَمَا ذَاكَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ قَالَ " مَنْ عَلِمَ الرَّمْىَ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا أَوْ قَدْ عَصَى " .
