Sahih Muslim 1939
Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported, I do not know whether Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prohibited (the eating of the domestic ass) due to the fact that they were the beasts of burden for the people, so he did not like their beasts of burden to be destroyed (as a matter of expediency), or he prohibited the use of the flesh of domestic asses (not as an expediency but as a law of the Shari'ah) on the Day of Khaibar.
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالی عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں، مجھے معلوم نہیں، (میرے خیال میں یا تو) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صرف اس لیے ان سے روکا تھا، کیونکہ وہ لوگوں کا بوجھ اٹھاتے تھے، آپ نے اس بات کو ناپسند فرمایا کہ ان کے بار برداری کے جانور ختم ہو جائیں گے، یا خیبر کے دن آپ نے گھریلو گدھوں کے گوشت کو حرام قرار دیا تھا۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Raziallahu Anhuma) bayan karte hain, mujhe maloom nahin, (mere khayal mein ya to) Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne sirf is liye un se roka tha, kyunke woh logon ka bojh uthate the, Aap ne is baat ko napasand farmaya ke unke bar bardari ke janwar khatam ho jayenge, ya Khaibar ke din Aap ne gharelu gadhon ke gosht ko haram qarar diya tha.
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الأَزْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ لاَ أَدْرِي إِنَّمَا نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ حَمُولَةَ النَّاسِ فَكَرِهَ أَنْ تَذْهَبَ حَمُولَتُهُمْ أَوْ حَرَّمَهُ فِي يَوْمِ خَيْبَرَ لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ الأَهْلِيَّةِ .
