Sahih Muslim 1950
Abu Zubair reported, I asked Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) about the eating of the lizard, whereupon he said, do not eat that as he (the Prophet ﷺ) felt disgust. He (the narrator) said that Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reminded, Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) did not declare it to be unlawful. Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has (made it a source) of benefit for more than one (persons). It is a common diet of the shepherds. Had it been with me, I would have eaten that.
ابو زبیر بیان کرتے ہیں، میں نے حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہما سے ضب کے بارے میں سوال کیا؟ تو انہوں نے جواب دیا، اسے نہ کھاؤ اور اس سے کراہت کا اظہار کیا اور بتایا، حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ نے کہا، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے حرام قرار نہیں دیا، اللہ عزوجل بہت سے لوگوں کو اس سے نفع پہنچائے گا، اکثر چرواہوں کی خوراک بس یہی ہے اور اگر یہ میرے پاس ہوتی، تو میں اسے کھاتا (مکہ اور مدینہ میں یہ نہیں تھی)۔
Abu Zubair bayan karte hain, main ne Hazrat Jabir (Raziallahu Anhu) se zabb ke bare mein sawal kiya? To unhon ne jawab diya, use na khao aur us se karahat ka izhar kiya aur bataya, Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (Raziallahu Anhu) ne kaha, Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne use haram qarar nahin diya, Allah Azza wa Jall bahut se logon ko us se nafa pahunchayega, aksar charwahon ki khuraak bas yehi hai aur agar yeh mere paas hoti, to main use khata (Makkah aur Madeenah mein yeh nahin thi).
وَحَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنِ الضَّبِّ، فَقَالَ لاَ تَطْعَمُوهُ . وَقَذِرَهُ وَقَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يُحَرِّمْهُ . إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْفَعُ بِهِ غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ فَإِنَّمَا طَعَامُ عَامَّةِ الرِّعَاءِ مِنْهُ وَلَوْ كَانَ عِنْدِي طَعِمْتُهُ .
