Chapter: The permissibility of slaughtering with anything that makes the blood flow, except teeth and other bones

باب جَوَازِ الذَّبْحِ بِكُلِّ مَا أَنْهَرَ الدَّمَ إِلاَّ السِّنَّ وَالظُّفُرَ وَسَائِرَ الْعِظَامِ
Sahih Muslim 1968c
Rafi bin Khadij (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) narrated from his grandfather that he said, Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), we are going to encounter the enemy tomorrow, but we do not have long knives with us, should we then slaughter them with the peel of the reed? The rest of the Hadith is the same. (And at the end the words are), a camel became wild (and got out of our control). We attacked it with arrows until we made it fall down.’
حضرت رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، ہم نے عرض کیا، اے اللہ کے رسول! ہمارا کل دشمن سے مقابلہ ہونے والا ہے اور ہمارے پاس چھریاں نہیں ہیں، کیا ہم بانس کی پھانک سے ذبح کر سکتے ہیں، آگے مذکورہ بالا حدیث ہے، اس میں ہے، ہم سے ایک اونٹ بھاگ گیا، تو ہم اس کو تیر مارا حتیٰ کہ ہم نے اس کو زمین پر گرا لیا۔
Hazrat Rafi' bin Khadij (Raziallahu Anhu) bayan karte hain, hum ne arz kiya, Aye Allah ke Rasool! Hamara kal dushman se muqabla hone wala hai aur hamare paas chhuriyan nahin hain, kya hum baans ki phank se zabh kar sakte hain, aage mazkoora bala Hadees hai, is mein hai, hum se ek oont bhaag gaya, to hum usko teer mara hatta ke hum ne usko zameen par gira liya.
وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، رَافِعٍ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَنِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ، رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لاَقُو الْعَدُوِّ غَدًا وَلَيْسَ مَعَنَا مُدًى فَنُذَكِّي بِاللِّيطِ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِقِصَّتِهِ وَقَالَ فَنَدَّ عَلَيْنَا بَعِيرٌ مِنْهَا فَرَمَيْنَاهُ بِالنَّبْلِ حَتَّى وَهَصْنَاهُ .
