Chapter: The prohibition of eating sacrificial meat for more than three days, which applied at the beginning of Islam but was then abrogated, and now it is permissible to eat it as long as one wants.

Sahih Muslim 1974
Salama bin al-Akwa' narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘he who sacrifices (animal) among you nothing should be left in his house (out of its meat) on the morning of the third day. When it was the next year, they (his companions) said, should we do this year as we did during the previous year? Thereupon he said, do not do that, for that was a year when the people were hard pressed (on account of poverty), so I wanted that the (meat) might be distributed among them.
حضرت سلمہ بن اکوع رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے جس نے قربانی کی ہے، تیسرے دن کے بعد اس کے گھر میں گوشت کا کوئی ٹکڑا نہ رہے، تو جب اگلا سال آیا، صحابہ کرام نے پوچھا، اے اللہ کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! کیا ہم پچھلے سال کی طرح کریں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”نہیں، پچھلے سال تو لوگ مشقت (بھوک) میں مبتلا تھے، تو میں نے چاہا، ان میں گوشت پھیل جائے۔“
Hazrat Salama bin Akwa (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: “Tum mein se jis ne qurbani ki hai, teesre din ke baad us ke ghar mein gosht ka koi tukra na rahe, toh jab agla saal aaya, Sahaba Kiram ne poocha, ae Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! kya hum pichle saal ki tarah karein? Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: “Nahi, pichle saal toh log mashaqqat (bhook) mein mubtala thay, toh mein ne chaha, un mein gosht phail jaye.”
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ، بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ ضَحَّى مِنْكُمْ فَلاَ يُصْبِحَنَّ فِي بَيْتِهِ بَعْدَ ثَالِثَةٍ شَيْئًا " . فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَفْعَلُ كَمَا فَعَلْنَا عَامَ أَوَّلَ فَقَالَ " لاَ إِنَّ ذَاكَ عَامٌ كَانَ النَّاسُ فِيهِ بِجَهْدٍ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ يَفْشُوَ فِيهِمْ " .
