Chapter: The Prohibition Of Letting One's Garment Drag Out Of Pride, And The Extent To Which It Is Permissible To Let It Hang Down And The Extent To Which It Is Recommended

باب تَحْرِيمِ جَرِّ الثَّوْبِ خُيَلاَءَ وَبَيَانِ حَدِّ مَا يَجُوزُ إِرْخَاؤُهُ إِلَيْهِ وَمَا يُسْتَحَبّ
Sahih Muslim 2085f
Salim reported, I heard Ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) as saying that he had heard Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying like this (as mentioned above) but with a slight variation of wording [that instead of the word thaub (cloth) there is the word thiyab (the clothes) ].
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے سنا، آگے مذکورہ حدیث اس فرق کے ساتھ ہے کہ یہاں ثوب
Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhuma) bayan karte hain, main ne Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ko yeh farmate suna, aage mazkora hadith iss farq ke saath hai ke yahan "Thaub" (kapda) ka lafz hai.
وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمًا، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ . مِثْلَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ثِيَابَهُ .
