Chapter: The Prohibition Of Taking The Kunyah Abul-Qasim, And The Names Which Are Recommended

باب النَّهْىِ عَنِ التَّكَنِّي، بِأَبِي الْقَاسِمِ وَبَيَانِ مَا يُسْتَحَبُّ مِنَ الأَسْمَاءِ ‏.‏

Sahih Muslim 2133e

This Hadith has been reported on the authority of A'mash with the same chain of transmitters but there is a slight variation (of wording) that, instead of ‘I have been sent’, it is ‘I have been made’ has been used.

امام صاحب کو ایک اور استاد نے بتایا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں تو قاسم ٹھہرایا گیا ہوں، تمہارے درمیان بانٹتا ہوں۔“

Imam Sahib ko ek aur ustaad ne bataya, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Main to Qasim thahraya gaya hun, tumhare darmiyan baantta hun."

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّمَا جُعِلْتُ قَاسِمًا أَقْسِمُ بَيْنَكُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
