Sahih Muslim 2772
Zaid bin Arqam (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) narrated that they set out on a journey along with Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in which they faced many hardships. 'Abdullah bin Ubayy said to his friends, do not give what you have in your possession to those who are with Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) until they desert him. Zubair said, that is the reciting of that person who recited as min haulahu (from around him) and the other reciting is man haulahia (who are around him). (This is described in this verse) - [They (hypocrites) say: 'If we return to Madinah, indeed the more honorable (Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul, the chief hypocrite at Madinah) will expel from there the meaner (Allah’s Apostle ﷺ).' But honor, power and glory belong to Allah, and to His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.] (Al-Munafiqoon – 8). I came to Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and informed him about that, and he sent someone to Abdullah bin Ubayy and he asked him whether he had said that or not. He took an oath to the fact that he had not done that and told that it was Zaid ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) who had stated a lie to Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). Zaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said, ‘I was much perturbed because of this until this verse was revealed attesting my truth – [When the hypocrites come to you (O Prophet ﷺ) they say, 'We bear witness that you are certainly the Apostle of Allah', and indeed Allah knows that you are His Apostle, but Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are profound liars.] (Al-Munafiqoon – 1). Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) then called them in order to seek forgiveness for them, but they turned away - [ When you see them, their appearance impresses you. And when they speak, you listen to their (impressive) speech. But they are like (worthless) planks of wood leaned (against a wall). They think every cry is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allah condemn them! How can they be deluded (from the truth)?] Al-Munafiqoon – 4). They were in fact apparently good-looking persons.
حضرت زید بن راقم بیان کرتے ہیں ہم ایک سفر میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ نکلے اس میں لوگوں کو بہت تکلیف پہنچی تو عبد اللہ بن ابی نے اپنے ساتھیوں سے کہا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھیوں پر اس وقت تک کچھ خرچ نہ کرے۔ جب تک وہ اس سے الگ نہ ہو جائیں زہیر کہتے ہیں جو لوگ "حَوَلَه"پر زیرپڑھتے ہیں وہ اس سے پہلے من کا اضافہ کرتے ہیں اور اس (عبد اللہ بن ابی)نے کہا اگر ہم مدینہ لوٹ گئے تو عزت والے اس سے ذلت والوں کو نکال دیں گے، حضرت زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کہتے ہیں، میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر، آپ کو یہ بات بتادی، آپ نے عبد اللہ بن ابی کو بلوایا اور اس سے پوچھا اس نے زور دار قسم کھائی کہ اس نے یہ کام نہیں کیا اور کہا زید نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس جھوٹ بولا ہے چنانچہ لوگوں کی باتوں سے میرے دل میں بہت رنج ہوا حتی کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے میری تصدیق میں سورہ منافقون کی یہ آیات اتاریں، پھر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں بلویا تاکہ ان کے لیے مغفرت طلب فرمائیں تو انھوں نے اپنے سر جھٹک دئیے اللہ نے ان کے بارے میں فرمایا:"گویا وہ دیواروں کے ساتھ لگی لکڑیاں ہیں،(ان کا کردار انسانوں والا نہیں ہے) حالانکہ وہ خوبصورت انسان تھے۔
Hadhrat Zaid Bin Arqam (Razi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain hum ek safar mein Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke saath nikle is mein logon ko bahut takleef pahunchi to Abdullah Bin Ubayy ne apne sathiyon se kaha, Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke sathiyon par is waqt tak kuch kharch na kare. Jab tak woh is se alag na ho jayen Zuhair kehte hain jo log "Hawlah" par zer padhte hain woh is se pehle min ka izafa karte hain aur us (Abdullah Bin Ubayy) ne kaha agar hum Madinah laut gaye to izzat wale is se zillat walou ko nikal denge, Hadhrat Zaid Bin Arqam (Razi Allahu Anhu) kehte hain, main ne Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ki khidmat mein hazir ho kar, aap ko yeh baat bata di, aap ne Abdullah Bin Ubayy ko bulaya aur us se poocha us ne zor dar qasam khayi ke us ne yeh kaam nahi kiya aur kaha Zaid ne Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke paas jhoot bola hai chunanche logon ki baton se mere dil mein bahut ranj hua hatta ke Allah Ta'ala ne meri tasdeeq mein Surah Munafiqoon ki yeh aayat utarin, phir Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne unhen bulaya taa ke un ke liye maghfirat talab farmayen to unhon ne apne sar jhatak diye Allah ne un ke bare mein farmaya: "Goya woh deewaron ke saath lagi lakdiya hain, (un ka kirdar insanou wala nahi hai) halanke woh khoobsurat insan the.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ، يَقُولُ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي سَفَرٍ أَصَابَ النَّاسَ فِيهِ شِدَّةٌ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَىٍّ لأَصْحَابِهِ لاَ تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِهِ . قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ وَهِيَ قِرَاءَةُ مَنْ خَفَضَ حَوْلَهُ . وَقَالَ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الأَذَلَّ - قَالَ - فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِذَلِكَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَىٍّ فَسَأَلَهُ فَاجْتَهَدَ يَمِينَهُ مَا فَعَلَ فَقَالَ كَذَبَ زَيْدٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم - قَالَ - فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي مِمَّا قَالُوهُ شِدَّةٌ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَصْدِيقِي { إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ} قَالَ ثُمَّ دَعَاهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِيَسْتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ - قَالَ - فَلَوَّوْا رُءُوسَهُمْ . وَقَوْلُهُ { كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَةٌ} وَقَالَ كَانُوا رِجَالاً أَجْمَلَ شَىْءٍ .
