Sahih Muslim 417
Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : The Imam is appointed to be followed. So recite takbir when he recites it, and bow down when he bows down and when he utters - َُّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهسَمِعَ َّللا[Allah listens to him who praises Him], say - َُ بَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْداللَّهُمَّ ر [O Allah, our Lord, for You is the Praise]. And when he prays, standing, you should pray standing. And when he prays sitting, all of you should pray sitting.
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”امام صرف اس لیے مقرر کیا گیا ہے کہ اس کی اقتدا (پیروی) کی جائے تو جب وہ تکبیر کہے تو تم تکبیر کہو، اور جب وہ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ کہے تو تم اَللّٰهُمَّ، رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ کہو اور جب وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھے تو تم کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو، جب وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم سب بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Imam sirf is liye muqarrar kiya gaya hai ke us ki iqtida (pairwi) ki jaye toh jab woh takbeer kahe toh tum takbeer kaho, aur jab woh 'Sami-allahu liman hamidah' kahe toh tum 'Allahumma, Rabbana lakal hamd' kaho aur jab woh khade ho kar namaz parhe toh tum khade ho kar namaz parho, jab woh baith kar namaz parhe toh tum sab baith kar namaz parho."
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا يُونُسَ، مَوْلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ " إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ . فَقُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ . وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا أَجْمَعُونَ " .
