Chapter: Night prayers and the number of rak`ah offered by the Prophet (saws) at night, and that Witr is one rak`ah, and a one-rak`ah prayer is correct

باب صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ وَعَدَدِ رَكَعَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَّ الْوِتْرَ رَكْعَةٌ وَأَنَّ الرَّكْعَةَ صَلاَةٌ صَحِيحَةٌ
Sahih Muslim 744b
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) narrated that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to offer prayer at night while she lay in front of him, and when the Witr prayer was yet to be observed, he would awaken her and she observed Witr.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بیان فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم رات کو اپنی نماز پڑھتے اور وہ (عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا) آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے عرض میں لیٹی ہوتیں، جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے وتر باقی ہوتےتو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم انہیں جگا دیتے اور وہ وتر پڑھ لیتیں۔
Hazrat Aisha (Radiyallahu Anha) bayan farmati hain ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) raat ko apni namaz parhte aur woh (Aisha Radiyallahu Anha) Aap (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ke samne arz mein leti hotein, jab Aap (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ke witr baqi hote toh Aap (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) unhein jaga dete aur woh witr parh letein.
وَحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُصَلِّي صَلاَتَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَهِيَ مُعْتَرِضَةٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَإِذَا بَقِيَ الْوِتْرُ أَيْقَظَهَا فَأَوْتَرَتْ .
