Chapter: The virtue of al-Fatihah and the closing verse of Surat al-Baqarah; and the encouragement to recite the two verses at the end of Surat al-Baqarah

اب فَضْلِ الْفَاتِحَةِ وَخَوَاتِيمِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَالْحَثِّ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ الآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ آخِرِ الْبَقَرَةِ
Sahih Muslim 808a
Abu Mas'ud (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘if anyone recites the two verses at the end of Surah al-Baqara at night, they would suffice for him. Abdur Rahman said, ‘he met Abu Mas'ud (رضي الله تعالى عنه) and he was circumambulating the House (of Allah) and asked him about this (tradition) and he narrated it to me from the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).
حضرت ابومسعود انصاری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے رات کو سورۃ بقرہ کی یہ دو آخری آیات پڑھیں، وہ اس کے لیے کافی ہوں گی۔“ علقمہ کے شاگرد عبدالرحمان کہتے ہیں، میں براہ راست ابومسعود کو ملا جبکہ وہ بیت اللہ کا طواف کررہے تھے اور ان سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے مجھے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ روایت بیان کی۔
Hazrat Abu Mas'ud Ansari (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) bayan karte hain ke Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Jis ne raat ko Surah Baqarah ki ye do aakhri ayaat parhein, wo us ke liye kafi hon gi." Alqamah ke shagird Abdur Rahman kehte hain, mein barah-rast Abu Mas'ud ko mila jabke wo Bait-ullah ka tawaf kar rahe thay aur un se pucha to unhon ne mujhe Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se ye riwayat bayan ki.
حَدَّثَنَا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ التَّمِيمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ قَرَأَ هَاتَيْنِ الآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَفَتَاهُ " . قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم .
